Overall, the hotel was very nice. The resort is clean and the service is very good. The food at the buffet is OK, nothing special. The food at the restaurants was excellent. There were activities most nights and it was nice to be able to use the amenitites at the sister resort down the street.

Check in was a breeze and so was check out. Can't wait to return. Staff was great, buffet food was okay, restuarants were much better, beach bar always had food available. Grounds were clean, rooms were nice but no dressers or place to put clothes. Beds were hard, airconditioners worked great, large bathrooms. If you tip you will get awesome service! Kids did not like the fact that you can't swim in the pool after 8pm. Out of 10 it gets a 9.5 from us, now go see for yourself. Viva La Mexico!!!!

This was our third trip to PDC/Riviera Maya. We have stayed in other resorts in Playacar in the past and found them to be a much better value. The resort was at capacity when we arrived. We waited over 45 minutes to check-in. In comparison to other resorts in the area the quality of the food at this resort was poor. Pizza and Pasta Bar is your best option. The buffet restaurant does not have AC and is very uncomfortable during breakfast. Full breakfast is served in the pool area as well and a much better option. It was very difficult to get our refrigerator in our room stocked with sodas and H2O. The resort guests are approx. 50% Italian, 30% Other European countries, 10% Canadians and 10% US. Their is an obvious staffing issue at this resort as they had difficulty maintaining the cleanliness of the resort, staffing the bar and food service areas. Many times we were told to go to another bar or restaurant to obtain what we needed. We are generally not a "picky" family when it comes to our Mexico resorts, however, after staying at other resorts in the area and then staying at this resort, we were extremely disappointed. We would not waste our vacation time or money at this resort again.

The only real problem we had was at check in. Our flight left Dallas at 6:00 a.m. and we got to the hotel at about 10:45 a.m.. We could not check into the resort until 3:00 p.m., needless to say that was a pain.

We went to the Viva Wyndham Maya in mid-July of 2006. Along with friends, we had 3 rooms. Problems: Rooms are small. The room maid service was not consistent. Some rooms were well-maintained by the maids, some were not. The mini-bar in the rooms were stocked with sodas and SOME water only. No alcohol. The restaurants on site are difficult to book for dinner. Accolades: The hotel was in very good shape and well-maintained, as are the rooms, which are clean and updated. The entire staff is very friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurants was excellent, as was the service. Very nice location in Playacar.

I do recommend this Resort! My first room was not what I had reserved, no garden view and it had a terrible moldy smell. Jhon at the reservation desk did his best to move me immediately. The first room that was avialable had a prior smoker so that didn't work . I did have to wait until the next day but we moved to a beatuiful beach front room with a excellent view off the large balcony. It was wonderful and it made up for the first smelly room. The resort is very well kept and they were always working on improvements. The buffet food was just as good if not better than the restaurants. Beatuiful clean beach and pool. This resort is really a nice place to stay for a good price. Yes, I will be back!

The hotel was pretty. The lobby area was outdoors which was creative. I went in late june and it was very very humid. The food buffet area has no AC so it was extremely hot at night and during lunch. The restaurants are the only ones who have AC except for the Italian restaurant. The Italian restaurant is set up overlooking the ocean so it was very cool with the breeze. The rooms AC was magnificent. The bathroom was very nice and spacious. The pool was great. I enjoyed my stay. The shows were very creative and entertaining. The food wasn't great, I've had better ( Antigua and Dom. Republic.) On wednesday the offer a special $50 usd to go to the cancun strip the a famous club Coco Bongos. The $50 included transportation(40 min away from hotel) and open bar all night. 12am -3:45. It was a Great experience. They have impersonators perform at the club like Michael Jackson, Jennifer lopez, Moulan rouge, Britney Spears. It's a must see. I'm jersey and have gone to plenty clubs in NY. I have never seen a club like this.

My kids, aged 4 and 7, loved the kids club. Actually they loved it so much that's all they wanted to do all day. It gave my husband and I some quiet time to ourselves, but we also were able to enjoy time together as a family. The girls that work at Kids Club are wonderful!! Other positives: location, rooms with a view, good value. Negatives: beds were hard, buffet lacking variety.
