Conventioneers and business and leisure travelers enjoy the convenient location combined with away-from-it-all ambience. The hotel has 16,200 square feet of meeting space and a business center. Amenity highlights: Landscaped grounds feature tall palm trees, exotic plants, waterfalls, fish ponds, a large swimming pool, spa pool, and plenty of grassy areas. Islands Sushi & Pupu Bar, in the lobby, draws guests and locals for its hand-rolled sushi, Hawaiian appetizers, and colorful cocktails. The dinner-only Islands Restaurant features Pacific Rim cuisine in a dining room filled with Hawaiian artifacts and flowing ponds. The hotel also has a fitness room. Guests are welcome to hang out with books, laptops, or cocktails in the thatched hut located in a courtyard behind the pool, complete with a waterfall and ponds.
Peacock Cafe - California cuisine is served for all meals in this contemporary restaurant with large windows overlooking the pool area. The Islands Restaurant - A Polynesian atmosphere is created with carved tikis and gurgling ponds, and a menu that specializes in creative, Pacific Rim fare. This restaurant is open Tuesday-Saturday for dinner only.
Islands Sushi & Pupu Bar - Hand-rolled sushi, Hawaiian-style appetizers, and tropical beverages are offered at lunch and dinner in this lively lobby lounge with aquarium.

| We only stayed there one night, but all staff we came in contact with were very courteous and helpful. The Hawaiian atmosphere was nice; this is an older hotel decorated very well. My complaints are; no mini-bar, bad shower-head, and the water temperature fluctuated both times I showered.

| There is a lot to do at this hotel. We were there for their annual luau. The restaurants are good too. Breakfast buffet at the Peacock was a step up from the usual included continental breakfast fare. But this is a very old hotel. The sliding glass door was off its track when we checked in and the entry door had some problems too. The decor and location is good, but this hotel needs a general facelift.

| Excellent Service, great hotel. One problem, the parking. If you plan on arriving at the hotel in the late evening, do not plan on parking near your room. Parking also costs 10 dollars a night.

| The Hanalei's Hawaiian theme is a pretty good facsimile of the islands, minus the humidity and the waves. The rates were very reasonable for the area and the location was about perfect for getting around San Diego. The kids loved the pool, but it did actually get too cold to swim once the sun started going down. The food is average and the daily charge for parking seems extreme, but all-in-all it's a good deal.

| First trip to San Diego, stayed for the weekend, major complaint was that balcony sliding door was broken and wouldn't close. One elevator stopped and was down mid weekend. Concierge left post and didn't call for cab for several hotel guests. Hotel was busy and seemed short staffed all weekend. The positive was I enjoyed San Diego and didn't spend much time at hotel.

| Rooms were quite nice, although getting to the room via two of the slowest elevators I've ever seen was a slight aggrevation. Nice facilities overall. Great service from the bell desk! Hotel shuttle to nearby golf course and "Old Towne" was very nice, but no service was offered to San Diego Convention Center, which I thought was the only drawback to staying there. After all, the reason I was in San Diego was to attend a convention, as were a lot of the other hotel guests.

| A little off the beaten path but a good value for the money. Nice clean rooms, some with better views than others. For the area the price is right and the free shuttle to the trolley makes for fairly easy access to the rest of San Diego. Their marketing left you thinking it would be bigger but it is really a modest hotel for a modest price. I would stay there again in a pinch...
