This five-story hotel has two restaurants; a fitness center; both an outdoor and indoor pool; and a barber shop for men. A 24-hour, fee-based business center with computer, fax machine, and copier is available in the lobby, as well as a gift shop that sells everything from ice cream bars and paperback books to belts, shirts, ties, and purses. A courtyard area with a brick patio is used for event receptions.

Note: Fee may not include tax and is subject to change without prior notification. Self parking available.

Recreation
The public, 18-hole Highland Woods golf course, 4 miles west of the hotel, has three 72-par courses of varying yardage. Other public courses and driving ranges are within 12 miles of the hotel. About a half-mile east of the hotel is a forest preserve with a 14-mile paved path, trails, and wildlife. The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.

Features
What to expect: True to the Prairie architectural style developed and made famous by Frank Lloyd Wright, the four-story atrium lobby is filled with foliage, sitting areas, stained glass, hanging light fixtures, and geometric-print carpeting. The centerpiece is a fountain surrounded by a pond with real fish (the front desk provides fish food). Business travelers, families, and conference attendees appreciate this hotel's services.

Amenity highlights: This large, business-oriented hotel has 22,000 square feet of meeting and event space. High-speed Internet access (fee) is available in the meeting rooms as well as at pay phones in the lobby. In addition to the indoor pool and sauna, the hotel offers an outdoor pool, spa, and sundeck (open during warm weather). Fitness center equipment includes treadmills, reclining and upright stationary bicycles, elliptical machines, a weight bench, and mats.

Insider tip: The Medieval Times dinner theater, popular for groups and parties, is 3 miles west of the hotel. Guests are served a multi-course dinner while knights on horseback engage in a jousting competition. Diners are given paper crowns in different colors, determining which knight they're rooting for. A cash bar is available.

Tre Cena - Northern Italian-style cuisine is the specialty at this bi-level restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily, as well as a Sunday brunch. Sponge-painted walls in sunny gold are trimmed in dark wood and accented by etched glass panels, and feature vintage black-and-white photos of Italy. Along with the full menu, a buffet salad and pasta bar are offered for lunch and dinner.

Knuckles - Food and games are served up here, including pool and sports-watching on the large-screen TV. Seating is offered outside in warm weather, and inside in forest green leather booths. The walls are decorated with black-and-white photos of Chicago sports. Knuckles is open for dinner daily, and opens in the early afternoon on the weekends.

Tre Cena Café - This quick-bite café is located at the entrance to the main restaurant. Featuring a handful of wrought-iron cushioned chairs and black-top tables, the café serves top-brand teas and coffee, including espresso drinks. It also has a selection of scones, Danishes, biscotti, candy bars, and fresh fruit.

We came in from the back entrance as directed, but there were no signs to the elevators. We didn't have luggage assistance, so were carrying heavy bags, then had to wander around guessing which hallway to go down to find the elevators. They are tucked away, which is nice to keep them out of the main view, but they are incredibly hard to find.

No coffee pot, luckly there's a Starbucks downstairs. Came back late on Saturday, key was not functioning, went to replace it, I was expecting an appology, the concierge guy was probably expecting my deepest gratitude, so we did't exchange any words. Price is what drove me there and the closeness to IKEA.

It was ok but they made a mistake on billing. They charged me more and I had to call them back to get my money back and it took about a week to solve it. Other than that it was ok.

Be sure to ask for an exterior facing room or your room may face the lobby of the hotel. Room was quite stuffy and although I asked for a non-smoking room I could smell smoke the entire time and the room has very poor ventilation. Bed was comfortable and room service menu was good and not too overpriced.

This hotel is nice, and fairly conveniently located (although quite a circuitous way from the interstate to the road) to Woodfield Mall and IKEA, along with other NW Suburb attractions. For now, don't even try to think about driving into Chicago on I-90/94; clogged up tollway makes a 5-mile stretch take an hour to traverse at 8 mph. This really needs to be addressed by the Illinois DOT; I've never seen anything so ridiculous, and it doesn't matter what time of day or night it is...it's always backed up to some degree.

The hotel location is excellent because it is within walking distance of tons of shopping- IKEA, Woodfield Mall and a strip mall with Nordstroms Rack and Filene's Basement. Many restaurants are nearby. Also, the area is attractive with walking paths and lots of trees. The breakfast buffet was excellent...wonderful fresh fruit. The hotel is very fine and well maintained, but be aware that it is not brand new.
