Features
What to expect: The hotel does nothing to hide from its business and leisure clientele the locale’s previous existence as a bank: The registration desk retains a decorous teller screen, there's an enormous vault (available for private entertaining) in the lobby, and hallways are lined with artistic prints that evoke the building's history as a center of commerce. There's even an active bank branch, complete with tellers, on the main floor. Amenity highlights: The Whitney is home to one of the city's few Asian fusion restaurants, the celebrated 56 Degrees, which was founded by a Vietnam-born chef. There's a small fitness center with cardio and resistance equipment, and wireless Internet access is available in the lobby.
Insider tip: The hotel is around the corner from one of the city's oldest oak-lined public squares, as well as from a well-preserved Greek Revival architectural marvel, the former city hall of New Orleans.
Roth's Steak Knife - Features local seafood specialties and steak. Open daily. 56 Degrees - One of the city's few Asian fusion restaurants, the Vietnamese-informed 56 Degrees features such delicacies as poached oysters in saffron sauce and seared duck. The lobby of the former bank, with its massive columns and vast concave ceiling, is split down the middle by a wall, with half of the space for the remaining tellers’ windows, and half for the restaurant. With hotel and business-district clientele in mind, it is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week.

| On my family's recent trip to New Orleans, we were quite excited to stay in such a beautiful, historic building. Well to my dismay, we were rudely awakened on our first morning there by an alarm and requested to evacuate the building. Half dressed and tired we found ourselves standing on busy Poydras St. Once we were allowed to go back to our room, no explanation or apology was given. We were not happy. Once we set off for the day, we returned to our room which had not been cleaned nor were there clean towels to bathe with. Still not happy. In conclusion, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone until their staff is retrained or replaced. Unhappy in New Orleans

| Front desk people need to be more customer friendly . Over all the hotel is very nice. When they park your car it takes too long to get your car back. Make sure you call for your car at lease 30 minutes ahead .The restaurant it very nice and the food and service is very good.

| There was just nothing to it... The room was barely larger than my walk-in at home! Not worth the price. The location was convenient, though, and everybody was friendly.
