The Fairmont Royal Pavilion Hotel Amenities
A $10 million renovation in 2003 enhanced the spacious lobby, styled in pink-and-oyster tones, with thickly cushioned mahogany furniture, while retaining the open-air atmosphere and views of sea and sunset that guests prize. Among the hotel's treasured legacies from the 1940s is an entrance corridor framed by 100-foot Royal Palms leading to a lily-pond fountain in an open courtyard just off the reception area.

Complimentary wireless Internet access is available in the lobby. A shopping section contains clothing boutiques, a jewelry shop, and a gift shop. The hotel calls outside specialists for in-room massages, facials, and other spa services.

    Recreation
A half-mile of light-colored sand furnished with umbrellas and padded lounge chairs fronts the hotel and its adjacent companion resort, the family-friendly Fairmont Glitter Bay, along the Caribbean Sea. Chilled towels are distributed in the afternoons. A 65-by-35-foot pool surrounded by thickly cushioned lounge chairs and umbrellas offers freshwater swimming. Above the pool deck, a spa tub accommodates 12 guests.

Use of kayaks, snorkeling gear, small sailboats, and windsurfers is complimentary, as are water skiing and use of two lighted tennis courts. The hotel's dive shop arranges scuba-diving excursions and instruction (surcharges). Independent operators on the beach rent personal watercraft and offer parasailing (surcharges).

Complimentary shuttle service is provided to the Royal Westmoreland Golf Club 0.75 miles away. Two miles away, Sandy Lane resort offers three golf courses and a 450-yard driving range.

The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.

    Features

The hotel was beautiful, and the staff was very attentive. Rooms and bathrooms were very elegant, and the view from the balcony was superb. The only drawback is the location--without a car, taxis are necessary to get anywhere, and that became quite expensive.

There are fewer places in the Western Hemisphere that will treat you better than those at the Fairmont Royal Pavillion. We came here for our honeymoon and it was an absolute dream. The beach is fabulous aside from the same vendors everyday asking for purchases, which by the 3rd day got old. Take advantage of everything they have to offer, including all the watersports and snorkel trips (sea turtle trip especially). We had a room on the 3rd floor which had spectacular views and added privacy. We did not even notice the two flights of stairs because the scenery/gardens are beautiful. The pictures do not so justice to the beauty of this place. The food is expensive at the hotel but not mind boggling. The Palm Terrace is worth at least one night to dine with, drink with, etc. Tea time is a pleasant bonus to the afternoon.

The hotel was excellent. Attempt to get a room on the ground floor so you can walk right onto the beach. Tea time is a great addition and I recommend going every day. The beach is awesome and the hotel has complimentary water activities such as water skiing, snorkeling, and sailing. Make use of the concierge because she can help you with any and all requests, reservations, and questions. The food at the Palm Terrace restaurant is very good, fancy, and expensive. Overall we had an outstanding week and we would surely go again.

Our 7 day vacation (July 6-13, 2006) at The Fairmont Pavilion was an excellent investment in memories. The moment we arrived at the hotel we were greeted with a warm Caribbean smile, an ice cold towel and the island's famous Rum Punch. The rooms we immaculate and the views from morning to evening were postcard worthy. You don't have to worry about fighting for a spot on the beach, there were more than enough chairs and towels on the beach for each hotel patron at any time throughout the day. The only grunt I have was that we were not initially informed that the hotel was not 2 for one ($2 BDS=$1 USD), they were a rate of $1.94 BDS=$1 USD. It did not change our view of the hotel, but it did cause some initial confusion, until we were informed by a lovely waitress @ Cafe Tobaros on our 3rd day on the Island. Cafe Tobaros is a must for the breakfast buffet. Palm Terrace was a wonderful treat for the taste buds, just be prepared to spend, since it is considered Fine Cuisine.

We were very pleased with the Royal Pavillion. Very nice beach-front location, nice rooms, though they could have been a bit larger. Outdoor patio facing the beach. The staff was very pleasant and friendly, especially Peter who waited on us several times, and Ann the concierge. Our only complaint is the lack of casual dining options ofr dinner. We were forced to go to town for a casual dinner.

The hotel and beach were both very nice, but the food was very expensive. My husband and I have visited several other Caribbean islands and know that the food is expensive at the islands, but this was definitely the most money we have spent on food. About US$200 a day and that does not inlcude alcoholic drinks, appetizers, or any such extras. We also found there to be very little choice of what to eat. All restaurants (except one - Cocomos) served 5 star cuisine with 5 star prices. It was hard to just get a simple meal. We found the staff to be pleasant, but reserved. Perhaps there was a slight culture difference, as we were nearly the only Americans there. It seem that the vacationers were nearly all British.

Just returned from a 7 day vacation staying at the Fairmont Royal Pavilion. This is truly one of the best hotels in Barbados, the staff is extremely attentive, courteous and very customer oriented. The facility is gorgeous, the rooms have an unbelievably beautiful view of the water and every room faces the water---fall asleep each evening listening to the surf. The beach is very nice and I can honestly say I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be pampered, treated well and have access to every resource possible. The Royal Pavilion is a truly enjoyable place to stay, eating in both dining areas is an experience that no other hotel can match.I would definitely stay at this hotel again. While pricier than other hotels you will not be disappointed in any way, very worthwhile.

This is a wonderful place! The rooms are all ocean front. The beach is literally outside your window. Large sliding glass doors open onto a spacious balcony that is perfect for watching the sun set. The staff is extremely pleasant and helpful. We sat on the beach most days. The water is so calm and clear, perfect for swimming or snorkeling. Unusually ruff seas brought us to the pool on our last day. This too was a pleasant experience. Some green monkeys came to visit, as they apparently do from time to time. They seem comfortable enough with the people to allow you to photograph them, but not so bold as to approach you directly. We loved the ocean front breakfasts at Taboras. Afternoon tea was also lovely. The Terrace restaurant is very good, and there are many excellent restaurants a short taxi ride away.
