    The Peninsula Hong Kong Amenities
The hotel, opened in 1928, evokes colonial history, from the crisply attired bell staff to the framed photos of past celebrity guests. The lobby, carefully restored in 1994, retains its 1920s’ grandeur and ambience, while the 32-story tower extension, also completed in 1994, features extensive recreational facilities, including a Roman-themed spa with sundeck, the Philippe Starck-designed Felix entertainment complex, and a helipad with its own check-in lounge. International designer-brand boutiques are located off the lobby.

    Recreation
The Roman-themed Peninsula Spa features a 60-foot pool with waterfall, two spa tubs, and a sundeck overlooking the harbor. A retractable glass screen allows year-round use. The health center offers extensive facilities, including saunas, steam rooms, spa tubs, and massage rooms. Towels, robes, and work-out wear are available for guests’ use.

Jogging is available along the promenade, opposite, or in Kowloon Park, three blocks away.

The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.

    Features
What to expect: A total renovation of the 1928 main building and completion of a 32-story tower extension in 1994 brought one of the world’s legendary hotels up to date. The lobby, with its soaring columns, gleaming archways, and gilded cornices, has welcomed tycoons, movie stars, and business travelers for 75 years. White-gloved bell staff open the doors to a past era, with a string quartet serenading diners over afternoon tea.

Amenity highlights: Service has been honed to a fine art over the decades, and the in-house-designed technology is discreet rather than invasive. The hotel has a Roman-themed spa, and a sundeck overlooking the harbor. The six restaurants range from the traditional to the trendy, with a wide selection of Asian and western cuisines.

Insider tip: World-renowned musicians performing at the Cultural Centre opposite regularly practice in the hotel’s Music Room, whose grand piano is also available to guests.

Gaddi’s - French haute cuisine with a fine wine list. Rare artworks including pieces by Marc Chagall and George Chinnery, as well as a 16th-century Chinese screen and antique silverware dating from the hotel’s opening in 1928. Live soft-jazz in the evenings, and a small dance floor. Open for dinner and lunch Monday to Saturday.

The Verandah - Mediterranean cuisine in a relaxed setting overlooking the forecourt fountain. Ceiling fans and palms recreate 1930s’ tropical elegance. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as weekend afternoon tea.

Chesa - A little piece of Switzerland in Hong Kong since 1965. Modeled after an Alpine chalet and specializing in Swiss regional specialties, particularly raclette and fondue. Open for lunch and dinner.

Spring Moon - A recreation of how the hotel’s authentic Cantonese restaurant would have looked in 1928, with stained glass, wood paneling, and art-deco highlights. Tea-masters match dim sum specialties to a large selection of Chinese teas. Open for lunch and dinner.

Felix - Designed with an offbeat sense of humor by Philippe Starck. Several themes under one roof, including the Wine Bar, Balcony, American Bar, and Crazy Box. Pacific Rim cuisine, and panoramic harbor and city views. Open every night.

Imasa - Contemporary Japanese cuisine with tableside preparation of sushi and tempura. Fresh seasonal ingredients are flown from Japan. Open for lunch and dinner.

The Bar - A relaxed setting for a quiet drink, with deep armchairs and wicker furniture evoking images of Somerset Maugham. Open late afternoon to midnight.

The Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong is truly a fabulous, luxurious experience. The hotel is breathtakingly beautiful, the room was impecable and very comfortable and the service I received everywhere from the front desk to the business center was first rate. When room service came to my one night and the dinner plate was chipped, the server even insisted on bringing me a new main course! The spa is incredible and I had the best massage of my life there. I can't wait to go back!

The harbor view rooms are an absolute must, with the best views in the city on top of the extraordinary comforts and conveniences of the room and the fabulous service of the staff. Down to the smallest details (eg, luxuriously comfortable Frette bed linens), The Peninsula truly rates as one of the world's best hotels.

This hotel is in a class by itself. The rooms, the food, the service are all world class. The experience, the knowledge and expertise make service truly outstanding. Rarely do you find staff so well trained, so friendly and so very helpful. This was my 4th visit to this hotel. Each time I arrive I am impressed with the attention to detail. Other 1st class hotels pale in comparison. If you decide to stay at the Peninsula, perhaps you'll see me. I've stayed at many hotels in Hong Kong over the years. Now I'm spoiled, I won't stay anywhere else.

Nothing to fault. Beautiful hotel; rooms large and very comfortable; staff friendly and competent. Daily fruit basket and newspapers a nice touch. Welcomed with a tea tray. Spa facilities excellent, with a beautiful outdoor pool. A real bargain (via Expedia) in November. In the middle of lots of restaurants and shops, and a short walk to Star Ferry. Had a hard time deciding between hotel on HK Island and here in Kowloon. I made the right choice and would do it again.

The Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong is an absolute jewel amidst the excitement of Hong Kong. The staff has been made famous by the Annie Leibowitz, one of the best portrait photograhers in our lifetime, and they live up to her images. The level of customer service is as good or better than the Oriental in Bangkok. While the hotel is not cheap, we live in Tokyo now and everything else seems inexpensive compared to here. The hotel is an experience that must be had in this lifetime. Splurge and live a little. You will not regret it. We even had the Rolls Royce pick us up from the airport. The high tea is an experience all it's own in the lobby (make reservations or the lines are long at 2 PM), and Felix, the Phillipe Stark restaurant on the top floor, is avante garde without being too pretentious. You must see the men's room in Felix--it is a must. The concierges were excellent. They assisted us with our dinner reservations each evening and were able to get us into the China Club, a private club that is in the original Bank of China building. Ladies, do visit the spa for a nice treatment. And guys, you must hit the roman swimming pool and state of the art health club. The view is tremendous. Have breakfast poolside, looking out over the bay of Kowloon. You will never forget it. We will be back for sure!

This property is certainly one of the most beautiful places I've stayed. Steeped in history, the hotel is rich with heritage and memories of the people who have worked very hard to preserve her integrity. A remarkable place.
