| This hotel was extremely overpriced considering the poor design of both the overall hotel and the hotel room itself. For starters, the hotel staff seemed completely unable to handle simple requests. Our room had a burned-out bulb in the desk lamp, and also had no simple bar of soap in the bathroom (although there was an empty slot for it in the rack amongst all of the specialty shampoos, etc). First I had to convince the Manager on Duty that these items actually did need attention, and then it took him about 15 minutes to locate a light bulb and the bar of soap. Additionally, the elevator is the old-fashioned type where only two people and one suitcase could fit in. And then there is the room design itself. The window was about 20 feet (horizontally) from a street light in an alley, which poured light into the window, Even with the blinds closed. There were long, heavy drapes that extended to the floor, but if you closed them you would block the vents on a very old window air-conditioner. Who are the geniuses that designed this room. Whoever did was never in the room at night to see how poorly this worked. Add to all that the cost of parking overnight at a garage that was not convenient to the hotel (you had to walk around the block), and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, especially at the prices they charge.

| Narrow halls and small dark rooms. Not for anyone who is the least bit clausterphobic. Old fashioned elevator broke down on the trip up one floor.

| Being that the "chain" hotels were all full, or just hugely priced, I gave the Majestic a try. Parking was a little expensive $22 per day with in-out privileges but you can expect that in Chicago. The hotel was built in 1927 so it has some characteristic qualities, like a little creak in the stairs but alltogether a great value! They have that old fashioned elevator with the gate, that was cool... The bathroom was very nicely appointed and the the toletries are excellent. My room had robes (very much appreciated) and no trouble high speed internet access for $9.95/day. I will go there again, the neighborhoor is pretty good, with older, well maintained homes and CLOSE to the lake!

| If you are looking for a unique place to stay in the Lake View (North Side) of Chicago, I highly recommend the Majestic Hotel. The front desk staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I wanted to take the bed and pillows home with me--I can't recall a better night's sleep in a hotel. We had a queen suite which was very comfortable. The hotel is just a short walk from just about any dining or shopping option you could think of. You could easily walk to Wrigely Field to catch a Cubs game too! We plan to stay there again when in Chicago.
