The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort, Naples Amenities
The resort's Tiburón Golf Club features two 18-hole courses, the Black and the Gold, with a total of 800 acres. Greg Norman designed the course to play like a British Open links course—firm and fast. It features half-inch fairway heights, stacked sod bunkers, coquina shell waste areas, and a complete absence of rough. The fairways are lined with pine straw and enhanced by native plant life and sparkling lakes. The 43,000-square-foot, Mediterranean-style clubhouse has a pro shop with golf and resort apparel for men and women, locker facilities, and a workout room. The Rick Smith Golf Academy offers personalized instruction and private video rooms.

The fitness center has cardio and strength-training equipment, free weights, exercise balls, and a sunny seating area with juice and fresh fruit. Just off the fitness center are massage and body-treatment rooms. The locker rooms have marble floors, mahogany lockers, large showers with personal amenities, and steam and sauna rooms. There are four lighted Har-Tru sand tennis courts with equipment rental. The outdoor lap and splash pool is surrounded by a terrace with chaise lounges and a spa tub. One end of the pool is nine inches deep to accommodate children. A poolside grill serves snacks and cold drinks. The Ritz Kids program provides supervised activities for children age 5 to 12, and a comprehensive day camp is offered mid-morning until mid-afternoon (surcharge).

Features
What to expect: A long driveway lined with palm trees leads weekend golfers, leisure travelers, and executives on retreat to a commanding fountain and the lobby of this golfing aficionado's resort. Inside are high, molded-beamed ceilings with massive wrought-iron and glass chandeliers, cool slate floors, railings made of crisscrossed golf clubs, and British Colonial-style furnishings.

Amenity highlights: The Tiburón Golf Club features two 18-hole courses designed by Greg Norman, with a total of 800 acres. Insider tip: The Briggs Nature Center, 23 miles away, covers 13,000 acres and is home to many Florida birds and plant life. A boardwalk takes guests through rare-plant communities, and a butterfly garden is dense with plants selected to attract 27 species of Florida's butterflies. The center is home to herons, osprey, egrets, mangrove cuckoos, and prairie warblers.

Lemonia - A colorful and airy Tuscan-style restaurant with big picture windows overlooking the ninth hole. Guests can dine alfresco on the stone-and-tile terrace. There are breakfast and lunch buffets, as well as a dinner menu featuring seasonal selections. Nightly entertainment with piano music or classical guitar.

The Bella Vista - This comfortable, casual lobby lounge sits beneath high beamed ceilings and ceiling fans, with a gleaming mahogany bar with upholstered stools. Serving fine wines, champagne, cordials, and an array of martinis. The bar menu includes antipasto, chilled Gulf shrimp, and Osso Buco Quesadilla. Nightly piano entertainment. Open late morning until late evening.

The Bar - Reminiscent of a quaint Scottish gentlemen's pub and located adjacent to the Billiard Room, this bar offers a variety of small-batch bourbons and rare scotches. Open mid-afternoon until late evening.

The hotel staff went out of their way to make our stay extremely enjoyable. We would certainly stay again. The Beach Resort offers more amenities, but if you are a golfer you will love the golf course at the golf resort. There were more families than expected.
