Located directly on rocky shoreline 4 km (2.5 miles) south of Bridgetown, this hotel is set on the south coast of Barbados, just opposite Hastings Plaza in Hastings Village. Built around a pool terrace, the U-shaped complex overlooks the sea, and a wooden boardwalk stretches the length of the property. Some of the island's best swimming is at world-famous Rockley Beach, a four-minute stroll away. On-site amenities include a swimming pool, bike rentals, babysitting-services, laundry facilities, and restaurant; high-speed Internet access (surcharge) is available at a lobby kiosk. There is also a library on site. A convenience store is stocked with food and beverage items; newspapers, stamps, swimwear, souvenirs, casual clothing, suntan, and other toiletries. Guests also have access to the amenities at a companion hotel located 1.4 km away on Palm Beach in the Garrison area. The companion hotel provides complimentary snorkeling gear and other non-motorized water gear. Complimentary shuttle service is available between the two hotels.

| After having read several previous reviews I arrived at Allanda with some anxiety. I was however pleasantly surprised. My studio room was spacious, airy and CLEAN with an amazing view of the ocean which was steps away. The beach directly in front of the hotel is rocky but a short 3 minute walk along the shore brought you to a very nice beach with crystal clear blue waters. It seems as though most,if not all the rooms have been renovated. The kitchenette was adequatedly stocked with utensils for meal preparation. My only complaint was our stove was not in the best of condition. My package included breakfast which was buffet style and plentiful. I did not encounter the problem of a previous guest who found that you had to arrive early or you missed out on some items. It did however lack variety. Staff was courteous and accomodating. Overall my stay at the Allamanda was very enjoyable and I would recommend it to budget concious travellers. I would certainly go there again
