Features
What to expect: Families enter the Frank Lloyd Wright-style lobby toting shopping bags from excursions on Michigan Avenue / the Magnificent Mile, 4 blocks away. Business travelers chat with the friendly staff or read newspapers while sipping complimentary coffee, tea, or hot chocolate served in the second-floor hospitality suite.

Amenity highlights: A full complimentary breakfast is served daily from a buffet that includes French toast, hot and cold cereals, and fresh fruit. The hotel's self-service business center is open around the clock.

Insider tip: One of the best steak dinners in town is a short stroll away via the second-floor skywalk connection to Ruth's Chris Steak House. For music with dinner, there's Howl at the Moon, a lively sing-along piano bar and restaurant next door.

Guests of the hotel enjoy a complimentary hot buffet breakfast each morning.

Ruth's Chris Steak House - This well-regarded chain steakhouse has a comfortable, clubby feel. Aged, corn-fed prime beef, such as porterhouse steak for two, is the menu specialty. Other choices include fresh lobster, stuffed chicken breast, and lamb chops. The signature dessert is whiskey-spiked bread pudding. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner weekdays and dinner-only on Saturday and Sunday.

Al Chula's - A tropical aquarium marks the hotel entrance to this modern diner, where a game is usually showing on televisions behind the long bar. The sports-themed photographs hanging on the walls are for sale. Al Chula's is open for lunch and dinner during the week, as well as for breakfast on weekends.

My husband and our 3 children (adults) spent 4 nights here in July and were quite pleased with the rooms. Our room was on the 12th floor and the sirens from the firehouse next door never affected us. Our kids were on the 6th floor and also did not seem too bothered by it. The breakfast was not too exciting but I do not usually have high expections for a "free" breakfast buffet. I used the workout room twice and both times there did not appear to any A/C in the room which did make it a challenge. Overall, I would stay there again because the cleanliness, staff and the terrific location.

I love to stay at Hampton Inns because of their value, bedding, and breakfasts. Hotel did not have a room for us until after three o'clock and never really apologized. Rooms were ok, bathrooms could use a little updating. Bedding was good but beds were small. Nice hot breakfasts with super friendly staff. It still is a good value but I have stayed at nicer HI's.

It's right next to a firehouse, so you will hear the sirens a lot! After a while, you hardly notice them anymore. THEN, you realize just how often they go off and it's kind of annoying.
