Recreation
Shawnee's famous 27-hole golf course was designed and built in 1906 by A.W. Tillinghast, and has hosted national tournaments including the 1938 PGA Championship (Paul Runyan beat Sam Snead) and the 1967 NCAA Championship (won by Hale Irwin). Twenty-four of the 27 holes are on an island in the middle of the Delaware River. The Shawnee Golf Academy offers lessons, clinics, and more. The hotel’s own canoe base offers a convenient spot from which to canoe, raft, or tube down the Delaware River. During the winter, skiing, snowboarding, and tubing are popular pastimes (located nearby). Some recreational activities are complimentary; others have a fee.

| the lobby and lower floor public areas were extremly impressive and impeccably maintained. The hotel bar and resturant were also very nice and quite reasonably priced. We were very satisfied with our food and service. The room on the other hand was tiny. We reserved a king room with the expectation of having a decently sized room but upon arrival found the room to be undersized for relaxing. There was only a bed, armoir and a small table with 2 chairs. To get into the bathroom there was a step up. The bathroom was also tiny so much so that once inside you had to turn your body sideways to close the door. While the room was clean the wallpaper was peeling at the seams. Overall it was a fair hotel for an overnighter to getaway from the kids but to stay for a few days I would not recommend it.
