Access to upper floors is by outside stairs, not elevators.

Landscaped grounds include a cactus garden, traditional Hawaiian garden, large orchids, and even water lily ponds. Guests have access to a lagoon, barbeque areas, tennis courts, and a next-door swimming pool.

The front desk can arrange golf outings, helicopter sightseeing trips, luaus, and all other activities available on Kauai; the desk can also rents out videotapes and arrange massage sessions. A beach hut rents out snorkel sets and boogie boards, and provides complimentary towels and beach chairs.

    Features
What to expect: Imbued with history from both ancient Hawaii and the 19th century, the Kiahuna Plantation preserves an aura of gracious living amid the Garden Island's natural lushness. Space exists for families and couples to vacation in restful silence and as much live-at-home solitude as desired.

Amenity highlights: The extraordinary grounds reveal their wonders during strolls. Regarded as one of the world's best for cactus and other succulents, the Moir Gardens include fantastically shaped cacti, 70-year-old orchids, ancient Hawaiian lava-rock walls, ponds, and such artifacts as a grinding stone from Hawaii's first sugar mill and a whaler's melting pot converted into a water-lily planter. Other delights abound, such as monkey pod trees shading circles more than 100 feet in diameter and a grove of exotic lauhala trees.

Insider tip: Along with its bargain-priced mai tais for happy hour, the bar at the Plantation Gardens Restaurant serves complimentary pupus of exceptional quality and generous size. The atmosphere invites convivial conversation among contented guests and friendly staff.

Plantation Gardens Restaurant - Hailed as one of Hawaii's best, this spacious restaurant occupies much of the Kiahuna Plantation's original manor house. The manor was a 1930 wedding gift to Alexandra "Sandie" Knudsen and Hector Moir from her father, who inherited Hawaii's first (1835) sugar plantation from his parents. Walls display photographs chronicling plantation history. Under ceiling fans, dining is inside or on a wraparound veranda overlooking gardens and ponds. Wood floors and big wicker chairs evoke an earlier era and slower-paced atmosphere. The shaded bar has its own veranda. Diners are attracted by inventive, contemporary Hawaiian fare featuring local fish and other items.

We will definitely consider staying at this resort again. Excellent location, clean room, friendly staff and beautiful grounds. Really gave us the island feel with the decor, sites and sounds. Very family friendly and for as many people as were staying there was overall quiet, especially at night.

Loved it! We were in a garden-view room and were concerned about noise based on other reviews on this site; I agree that there isn't much sound privacy due to open windows but overall this was not bothersome and we didn't have any traffic noise from the nearby road. Service was really good, room was very clean on our arrival, but the day-to-day housekeeping was inconsistent. Our room had new, comfortable furnishings and nice decor. Grounds are amazing, as is the proximity to an EXCELLENT beach. Location overall is excellent with good access to lots of beaches, restaurants, airport, etc.

The bed wasn't all that comfortable, but the room was big and it was really nice having the kitchen in the room so we didn't have to eat out all the time, we saved quite a bit of money this way. Nice big lanai with a table and chairs, the garden view was not bad and quite a bit cheaper.

Great place to stay. Great beach access and exceptional service. No A/C wasn't a problem, but noise from open windows was. Bring earplugs!

This Condo resort is very nice and our condo was pretty nice. The main complaint was that there was not much sound privacy, you could hear a great deal of what your neighbors where up to. Also the kitchen did not seem as nice as expected, cookware, etc. given the price. But the resort was beautiful and the service was very good. The Plantation Gardens Restaurant there was wonderful. We would stay there again, but may venture to some of the other resorts on the next trip.

Loved this resort. Condos are clean and nicely furnished. Staff very friendly. Convenient location. Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper, the roosters crow way before sunrise! I got used to it after 2nd day it didn't bother me. If you have a family this is the way to go. BBQ's on grounds for your use also.

We had an ok stay at this location. It was roomy and clean. I felt it was overpriced as the condo was a bit dated. Also, we paid extra for ocean view and learned there is a big difference between ocean view and ocean front. If you stood in just the right spot and squinted far off you could see the ocean from our room. If I knew this isn't really an ocean front kind of place, I would have been perfectly happy paying less for a different unit. The grounds are beautiful with gently rolling lawns between each unit. Note there is no a/c which was not an issue for us since it is very temperate on the island, but may disappoint those who really want it. My main disappointment was carpenter working throughout the day on the unit next to ours. He was hammering all day. I finally went to the service desk at 6pm to ask if he could pack it up for the day and pretty much had to force the attendant to do something about it. Overall a good experience. Beware of the neighboring resort being gutted with construction noise. You will be fine if you are not on that end of the complex.

The condos are right on the beach, and close to nearby grocery stores so you can cook for yourself. There are also places to eat nearby that won't bust your budget.

The room and property were very nice. The only problem that we had was that the room we booked was next to the road, so that you had constant traffic noises. Also, there were roosters in the morning, but I think that is an island wide problem. I would still recommend staying here, but just be forewarned about the noise. The island is amazing and I would highly recommend going to Kauai.
