Features
What to expect: Blending contemporary and old-world alpine style, the condominium resort refreshed Squaw Valley's village by creating a village within itself. Phase one of the project, completed in 2003, placed four-story, tan-and-teal-green buildings around a central, public plaza. Ground-floor shops open onto the plaza. Upper-floor balconies look down on it. The development's second phase is scheduled for completion in early 2004. Amenity highlights: Fronting two small fitness centers containing saunas, paving-stone decks each provide two four-person spas for open-air soaking. A "grocery concierge" eliminates shopping chores by delivering organic produce and other supplies to guest units. A 15-minute cable-car ride to High Camp provides quick access to restaurants, warm-weather swimming, hiking, horse-back riding, golf, mountain biking, rafting, and ice skating (year-round). Winter activities include skiing, snowtubing, and snowboarding. In addition to the cable car, Squaw Valley's two major chairlifts and its gondola (Funitel) are within a 5-minute walk. Insider tip: Wood rocking chairs surround a firepit in the central plaza—a warm place to chat in the evenings.

| This was a great pick for us and although our stay was very short and we couldn't avail of all of the activities offered, it was a wonderful stay. We hope to go back and spend some more time there again sometime in the near future.

| We stayed in The Village and didn't give it much thought until the evening, that people are walking around in the village at night and therefore it was a little noisy, but overall, we were really pleased and they upgraded us to a bigger room at no charge - must have been available and so that was a nice surprise.

| Nice hotel complex, clean, comfortable, with activities and stores adjacent. The gondola runs to an ice rink;there are a number of nice restaurants. The condo was very clean and comfortable except for the fact that the ceiling fan did not work and could not be fixed. The units are privately owned; owners need to personally handle the repair. There is no A/C as apparently is true in most locations there; it does cool considerably at night and there are multiple box fans. Only other problem was the front desk could not find our reservation and sent us to another hotel on the same property;wasted an hour of time.

| Surprised to find such a good rate on a 650 square foot one-bedroom condo at Squaw. Very nice unit, but be advised the units are not air-conditions, but most have ceiling fans. It rarely gets that hot there. The restaurants on the ground level are good, and each building has two spas. One warning ... the units that face Squaw Valley Road tend to have a fair amount of street noise from traffic in the summer and early morning snow plows in the winter. Great location - close to Lake Tahoe, Donner Lake, Truckee, North Shore Casinos and all the winter resorts.

| This hotels gives you access to Tahoe's north shore, access to the Truckee River and quick access to the Gondola of Squaw. Great restaurants like the plumpjack and the Balboa Cafe in walking distance as is my daugther's favorite, Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream. the rooms were large with a very nice kitchen and had a wonderful view of the mountains. The Village was quiet in the evening, allowing you to sleep with your windows open.

| We had a great time while staying here. The only reason I would not give it all fives was that we stayed there in July in the middle of a heat wave and the condos and shops do not have air-conditioning and it did get a little warm. (I had called before our trip to ask about AC and they assured me they didn't need it there in the mountains!) Luckily there was a ceiling fan in the bedroom and a box fan in the closet that we were able to set in front of the french doors on the patio to bring in a nice breeze at night which made sleeping comfortable. Besides the heat, the resort overall was GREAT!! Our rooms were neat and clean and the daily service even loaded the dishwasher for us. We took the cable car ride up to the top of the mountain for dinner and enjoyed the best meal we had on our whole trip. It was worth every penny. The Irish Pub and Pizza shop were also great places to eat. Squaw Valley is a great location to stay at near Tahoe, close enough to all the excitement, but yet out of the way of all the traffic, etc. We would certainly stay here again, during a cooler time.

| Positives: Great view, kitchen, bath tub. Lots of room. Festive atmosphere. Negitives: Housekeeping staff does not speak english, so you can't communicate about the coffeemaker malfunction (coffee and grounds everywhere). Front desk staff not concerned, caring, or helpful for the most part. Sushi restaurant allowed to have live band play from 1:00pm until 10:00pm right under your bedroom window - so much for a nice quiet read and nap. Hard mattresses, very noisy trash carts at all hours.

| In the middle of July when outdoor temperatures were in the 80's and 90's, the room was very hot and had no air conditioning, only fans. When used, they blew in the outdoor air which was unbelievably smoky due to the smokers congregating on balconies. Plaza activities were extraordinarily loud and we had to keep our windows open! I would have rather slept in my car where it was quiet and cool.

| My three best friends and I stayed here for our annual girls' reunion weekend. We couldn't have picked a better place! The rooms were nice. It was great having the kitchen in the room. There were several dining options just in the village alone. And it was in a great location for hiking and enjoying the outdoors. Tahoe was only a short drive away. We'll be back!

| You can't fault the location of the hotel - it's right in the Sqaw village. The rooms are all comfort: gas fireplaces, equiped kitchens, dvd players & balcony all make it 'a home away from home' - the units could be seen as fairly small but they are well designed and furnished. I spent a great weekend there on the slopes and have actually booked another trip next weekend.
