Features
What to expect: This downtown property is said to be Colorado's largest hotel, with 1,225 guestrooms in two buildings—the 22-story Tower and 8-story Plaza—linked by a skyway and underground passage. Ludonico Luigi's bronze, life-sized horse statue dominates the grand, bustling lobby. The hotel attracts savvy business travelers and vacationers looking for comfort, convenience, and easy access to the city's top sights.

Amenity highlights: The three restaurants include Bravo! Ristorante, which is staffed by opera-trained singing servers. The Capitol Bar (the hotel is 3 blocks from the state capitol) is a cigar-friendly martini bar; the Tiffany Lounge features jazz; and the Supreme Court nightclub offers dancing to a DJ or live music. And finally, Players Sports Bar features beer and sports. Two gift shops, a high-quality health club, and an outdoor pool offer additional diversions.

Insider tip: Downtown Denver contains four districts—the four-block Civic Center Park, which hosts the city's largest celebrations; the 16th Street Mall, a mile-long, tree-lined pedestrian mall; LoDo, the historic 26-square-block warehouse entertainment district centered around Coors Field; and South Platte Valley, an area lined with bike paths, parks, and a river for whitewater rafting and kayaking.

Bravo! Ristorante - Lunch and dinner are served by professional singers who perform opera and show tunes nightly at this festive Italian restaurant, which has its own wine cellar.

Capitol Bar - This quiet, elegant bar specializes in appetizers, cocktails, cigars, and martinis, and features views of the city.

Players Sports Bar - This bar, a popular game-watching spot, features a wide selection of beers, sports art, and big-screen televisions.

Supreme Court Café and Nightclub - Lunch and dinner are served at this casual restaurant and bar, which features a giant video wall, views of the 16th Street Mall, indoor and outdoor seating, and dancing to live music.

Tiffany Rose Lounge - This intimate bar features cocktails, fine wines, and live entertainment.

Trattoria Colorado - This large, informal restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including grand buffets for breakfast and lunch.

This centrally located very large hotel spans two sides of Court Place, immediately adjacent to the mall on 16th street. Part of the hotel was more plush (as assessed by the entry and decor) than the other. We stayed in the less plush part, but for the price it was excellent. Pool area was pleasant. Views were great. Staff were accomodating.

Driving to the hotel, I had some difficulty finding the hotel and the operator was most helpful in guiding me. The rest of the staff although efficient, was not so helpful. I stayed for 4 nights and it was not until the third night I found purely by accident that there was a shortcut to my room. From the parking garage one had to take an elevator up to the lobby, then another elevator to the second floor to walk across to another bank of elevators up to my floor. I finally found an elevator that went from the parking garage straight up to my floor by accident but I think the staff should have told me. I ran into several of them in the elevators and commented how this was the only hotel I think I might need a gps to find my way around and they just agreed. The room itself was very comfortable and roomy. My windows were very narrow and looked out onto the pool. I would have preferrred a ncier view but then I was not in the room during the day much anyway. Overall it was a nice stay but had I not been there for a conference, I would have preferred to stay in a smaller hotel with easier access to parking.

The room was clean and fantastic (BIG!), all staff were courteous and ready to help, room service was quicker than the 40 minutes they said it would take, view was awesome (18th floor), overall, great 5 day stay! Only caveat: The room was paid for in advance...when I gave a credit card for room service/etc. upon check-in, the room was charged again on my credit card. Got it straightened out/removed, but upon my arrival home, checked and it was AGAIN charged to my credit card! I had to get mean and ugly to AGAIN have this large charge removed from my credit card. Other than that, I would stay there in a heartbeat!
