Recreation
The hotel provides two outdoor heated lap pools, open seasonally. One is in a landscaped garden; the other is adjacent to the fitness room. The fitness room offers 10 treadmills, several stair machines, exercise bikes, and resistance equipment. Guests can stroll the hotel’s spacious grounds, which are carefully landscaped each season. The hotel is three blocks from the wooded hiking, biking, and riding trails of Rock Creek Park. The 18-hole Hains Point golf course is four miles away, on the banks of the Potomac River. Features
What to expect: Covering 16 rolling acres, this hotel is perched on a small bluff overlooking Rock Creek Park. The hotel comprises three towers; most activity takes place in the sprawling atrium lobby between the two newer buildings. The small lobby in the oldest building (c. 1928) has a boutique-hotel look, with parquet floors and French antiques. Large groups and wedding parties appreciate the hotel’s garden setting, wide array of amenities, and attractive location in a residential neighborhood just two blocks from a Metro station.
Amenity highlights: The hotel’s woods and manicured gardens provide a peaceful setting for strolls, picnics, and weddings. One secluded garden encloses a heated lap pool. A second outdoor lap pool is adjacent to the fitness center. Inside the hotel complex, two lofty atriums form a spacious lobby where guests can sip drinks and watch TV by a mahogany bar.
Insider tip: Three blocks from the hotel is Rock Creek Park, a 1,750-acre forest that has grown alongside Rock Creek in the heart of Washington’s northwest quadrant. Numerous paths coursing through the hilly terrain are perfect for hiking, running, and biking. There also are picnic areas, tennis courts, a stable, and the Carter Barron Ampitheatre, which offers plays and concerts in summer.
Perle’s - This contemporary restaurant overlooking the atrium is named after socialite and diplomat Perle Mesta (1889-1975). Buffet and à la carte breakfast is served daily. Lunch and dinner options range from regional seafood dishes to pizzas baked in the brick oven. Harry’s Pub - Wood-paneled, English-style pub. Burgers and other pub staples for lunch and dinner. Seasonal outdoor seating. Woodley Cafe - Starbucks coffee drinks and pastries. Small café located off the colonnade that links the historic Wardman Tower to the other two buildings. Seasonal outdoor seating on slate patio overlooking the sloping grounds. Lobby Bar - Spread between the two atriums in the lobby, the lounge comprises clusters of easy chairs and a long mahogany bar. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres are served from late morning until late night.

| Great hotel but a little off the beaten tourist path. Located within 1 mile of Woodley Park Zoo and convenient to the Metro Line (Woodley Park stop-Red Line). Many small restaurants within walking distance. North of Dupont Circle. Hotel accepts small pets and saw many people with their pets during my stay.
