| American Inn is located near the NIH campus, offers a free continental style breakfast (including cereal and fruit, not just carbs!) and has some limited parking. The hotel rooms are small and old, a bit worn and threadbare. The rooms do have wireless internet. The security isn't tops-- there is access to the floors from outside doors, but the rooms themselves are decently secured. The price is the lowest in Bethesda, as far as I know. It is a long three-block walk to the Metro, and with the new "walls," the NIH campus is also a 3-5 block walk, which is far in the rain or snow or heat. The Inn does offer a limited shuttle but it isn't very helpful. If you are looking for a reasonably convenient, cheap place to stay in Bethesda, and can live with the more spartan arrangements of the hotel, this is the place for you.

| I enjoyed my stay at America Inn. The hotel staff was friendly and accomodating. The continental breakfast was simple but kept up well. I found the room clean and comfortable. Parking was a bit of an issue in their small parking lot but there are spaces available in a parking lot just across the street. They were willing to cover the expense of leaving the car there during the evenings.

| The location was great. Attached restaurant, Guappo's, was a good place to eat and reasonably priced. Not a super high class place, but it has a lot of charm and I'd go back there again, especially considering the competitive price.

| This is my second stay here. Clean and spartan. Small rooms. No restaurant or bar, but a continental breakfast from 0630 to 0930 each morning.
