Recreation
A golfer's paradise, Whistler offers four nearby golf courses, including: the Arnold Palmer–designed Whistler Golf Club, the Jack Nicklaus 'Signature Design' Nicklaus North Golf Course, the Chateau Whistler Golf Club designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., and the Big Sky Golf and Country Club, designed by Robert Cupp. Other recreational opportunities include heli-skiing, ATV tours, ice skating, and mountain biking. Whistler also offers over 4,800 feet of heart-pounding vertical trails in the Whistler Mountain Bike Park and over 62 miles of cross-country trails throughout the valley. The recreational activities listed below are available either onsite or near the hotel.

Features
Due to preparation for the upcoming 2010 Olympics, construction on the Sea-to Sky highway has commenced. Guests are advised to review the construction schedule after booking a hotel in the Whistler area. The construction schedule can be found on the following Web site: http://www.gtmconsulting.com/info/project_updates/travelling-sts.htm
What to expect: Outdoor enthusiasts come from all over the world to experience Whistler/Blackcomb. The Chateau’s prime ski-in/ski-out address and its proximity to Whistler activities means everything is within reach, from gourmet glacier-side lunches and heli-picnics, to guided fishing trips and extreme mountain biking. Amenity highlights: Sure to spoil both the young and young-at-heart, the Chateau’s full health club offers a heated pool where guests can swim both in and outside. Four hot tubs and a heated outdoor lap pool with piped-in underwater music are the icing on the cake. Dubbed the “gem of the Chateau,” the Mallard Lounge offers fireside après-ski or "19th-hole" golf relaxation with the ambience of an English gentleman’s club. It's just off the cavernous lobby of vaulted ceilings and conversation corners clustered around the river rock fireplace. Insider tip: Thanks to the Horstman Glacier, Blackcomb is usually ski-able through mid-August.
The Wildflower - Offers a grand selection of wines and an innovative menu designed to please even the most discriminating gourmand. Portobello - Located in the lower lobby of The Fairmont Chateau Whistler, is a casual, family restaurant with warm country atmosphere and historical West Coast decor. The Mallard Lounge and Terrace - This library-style lounge is often referred to as the "Gem of The Fairmont Chateau Whistler."

| Had only an hour after arrival at hotel to get ready for a wedding rehearsal dinner and asked for our bags asap - waited 1/2 an hour after check-in for them. On day of the wedding, as instructed by hotel, gave 15 minute notice to valet parking for our car and had to wait 40 minutes for it and ask repeatedly. There is no maid service after 5 pm but was told I could get clean towels after that. When asked for them, came back to room to find that wet towels had been hung up to dry but not replaced with clean ones. I think this hotel is highly overated as to service - they can't seem to deal with the large number of rooms.

| We had a moderate room, which is the smallest, but the bed was very comfortable, the room was very clean and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend and I would definitely go back.

| Stayed in two different rooms. One was fabulous and perfect. One was not. The bathtub in one wasn't all that clean or great. It was an older room and needed to be redone. The other room was great. The hotel staff and concierge services are great! Very polite with great restaurant recommendations.

| My wife and I went on a week vacation. I booked a moderate room since I was not expecting to stay in the room much, after all, it is summer in Whistler. And I did get a "moderate" room, a queen bed that barely fit. Very tiny for the Fairmont standards I was expecting and used to, but clean and well appointed, although somewhat outdated. But for lack of room size, the rest of the hotel was grandeur. Spa was great, restaurants were elegant yet cozy (though not cheap as expected), and bonfires outside at dusk were picture perfect (but get there early because they get taken quickly). Service was also top notch, friendly staff and very helpful. But best of all, this hotel is located in one of the premier vacation spots in the world (summer or winter). There's lots to do in Whistler and the city is absolutely gorgeous. It's an outdoor paradise. Next time I go, I will take my children and will prefer a hotel that offers kitchenettes since eating out all the time is expensive in Whistler, and then, I will definitely need more space in the room.

| While better suited for a luxury business trip than a vacation, this property is high quality all the way. The staff greets guests by name, room furnishings are beautiful, and service is excellent. The only drawback is that the Fairmont is at the Blackomb base area, which doesn't have as much of the nightlife that the main part of Whistler has. But the main village is a short walk or you can take the hotel's free shuttle.
