The hotel and service are excellent. Some rooms are small but well appointed. Best is that you are staying in a beautiful part of Kyoto in an historic hotel nestled in the hills.

We loved the hotel. Kyoto is a great place to visit. The room was great with a lovely view. The bathroom was not particularly well set out and I felt that we should have had robes provided and also the toiletries weren't up to the standard of the hotel. One of the concierges wasn't as helpful as another. Despite that we really enjoyed the hotel and would go back again.

An unexpected feature of this otherwise impersonal large modern hotel is fantastic bird trail in the back of the hotel going up the mointain and offering tranquility, peace of mind and amazingly clean air being in the center of town. You can meet up to 50 bird species, enjoy the view of the city and shiitake mushroom growing mini-farm. You may feel being far away from town yet being at the very heart of it. Hotel also has some Japanese style "Ryokan" rooms at the back which could be the best of both worlds - traditional Japanese inn with international service and (!) English speaking stuff, that you would not find in a small Japanese inn.
