What to expect: Designed to look like a Mediterranean villa, the nine-story hotel is a colorful mixture of safari themes, designer touches, and Mediterranean style. The lobby area, which includes full-length windows overlooking an outdoor fountain, has a decidedly hip 1960s theme, with a gas fireplace and red-velvet couches, faux-fur throw pillows, and shelves of gorgeous vases and antiquities. Amenity highlights: This colorful boutique hotel is within a 20-minute drive of most of the South Bay's tourist attractions, from Paramount's Great America park (8 miles) to Stanford University (12 miles), as well as most major business centers. The Mediterranean-style restaurant, Helios, offers an exhibition kitchen and an outdoor patio area that overlooks a small, grassy park. The fitness center has an array of cardio equipment, and each machine has its own TV and remote control. Insider tip: The hotel is 6 miles from the Bay Area's biggest venue—Shoreline Amphitheatre at Mountain View. The outdoor concert facility hosts such top-name talent as Phish, the Dave Matthews Band, R.E.M., Ozzy Osbourne, and Tim McGraw during warmer months, usually May–October. Many of Shoreline's top performers stay at the Cypress.
Park Place Restaurant - Upscale neighborhood-style restaurant. Steak and seafood; locally-grown specialty items; classic and signature cocktails. Selections include Kobe Beef Tri Tip Steak and Maine Lobster Ravioli. Open daily; brunch offered Saturday and Sunday from 8 AM - 2 PM.

| The Cypress is a nice hotel with clean rooms, helpful staff, and comfortable beds. I didn't find it all that "quirky", but did find the fact that there is no where to hang your clothes up, or put your suitcase off the floor very inconvenient!. How can a four star hotel have such an oversight? Other than that-all was great.

| My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The entire staff were very helpful, courteous, and always greated us with a smile ... even though they had to work on Christmas!

| Beautifully styled and comfortable rooms. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Eventhough the hotel was full, the noise level was minimal. It was great to have our dog welcomed by the hotel.
