Features
What to expect: Opened to the public in 2003, this resort caters to guests needing relaxation and pampering, families seeking beach time, wedding parties and conventions. Four separate courtyards, fountains, and lush gardens accentuate the Mediterranean feel, underscored by Venetian glass chandeliers, fireplaces, and rich gold-and-red decor. Amenity highlights: Guests enjoy access to the beach by a walkway over the Pacific Coast Highway. This 1-minute walk includes a lighthouse elevator transporting passengers to the Strand, a paved bike/walk path traversing 8 miles of coastline. The on-site spa offers a range of treatments, including its signature hydrotherapy bath. The hotel also has a large freeform pool and several spa tubs. Guests can enroll children ages 3-12 in day or evening programs. Insider tip: Huntington Beach is Surf City with good reason. The beach hosts the U.S. Open Surf Championship, and the International Surfing Museum is located downtown—a 20-25 minute walk from the hotel.
The Californian - This fine-dining restaurant is warmed by earth tones, a vaulted ceiling, and fireplace. Its signature California cuisine is created with local products and fresh produce. Casual breakfast and lunch are also served. Artistic glass tabletops are designed by a local artist and accented with fresh flowers. A private room is available for small parties and functions, and patio seating is available.
Red Chair Lounge - This upscale, wood-paneled lounge serves a full bar, including specialty martinis, cognac, and cigars. Guests gather on sofas and leather chairs, around the fireplace, or outside in the courtyard. A back room pool table is available at an hourly rate. Pete Mallory’s Surf City Sunset Grille - This casual café, with adjoining bar, serves lunch and dinner inside or on a patio warmed by an outdoor fireplace. Menu is inspired by surf destinations around the world, with items such as Hawaiian-style Pork Quesadilla or Ponzu Marinated Ahi Burger served with Thai Chili Aioli. Beach paraphernalia and a sunset countdown clock pay homage to local surf history. Mankota’s Grill - Outdoor grill serving burgers, sandwiches, salads, and drinks around fire pit or poolside. Open during lunch and late afternoon. Surf City Grocers - The grocery sells espresso drinks, deli sandwiches, and s’more kits, and provides picnic lunches for the beach. In addition, sundry grocery items, such as soft drinks and wines, are sold for guests’ in-room refrigerators. Hula Scoops - The parlor serves Hawaiian ice cream. Seasonal hours vary.

| Overall my wife and I had a great experience. Hyatt lived up to its name once again. Staff was friendly/attentive, hotel very clean and spa was awesome. Hotel was very busy but we managed to get a room overlooking the spa grotto which had an ocean view and was very quiet.

| We stayed for 4 nights with 2 teenagers and still managed to enjoy the hotel. The Starbucks and bridge to the beach are a lifesaver. It is a short walk down the beach to town. Very quaint with a nice mixture of restaurants and shops. The firepits at the hotel were lit nightly and a very welcome sight on the cool evenings. Try the Sugar Shack for a great breakfast!

| We were very impressed with the lobby and rooms. Very clean rooms and comfortable beds. We had a room on the 3rd floor with a partial ocean view. This meant you had to be on the balcony and lean over the railing then bend down to look under the tree and finally you could see some waves. That was disappointing. The walkway over the highway to the beach was great but it's a public beach so there was lots of trash in the sand. All of the staff was great, very friendly and helpful. Great restaurants and shops are just a few blocks from the hotel.
