| The moment you walk in the "resort" it is unclear where the front desk is. Staff are all very rude except for one waitress. The gardens have potential. The room we were put in reaked of smoke. The roofer stayed there while working on the place. there was also an old fridge covered in pine needles sitting on the front step. Not inviting. The only other room available was still being set up and had never been rented out. It was so dirty I vaccumed it myself! I found silverfish in the tiny bathroom where my average sized husband had to shave with one foot in the shower because there was no room in front of the sink. Next time we'll stay in town where customer service is a priorty. These people act as if you are in their way, interupting their personal phone calls and smoke breaks to give you a room key or a reciept. How dare they call themselves a "Resort"! Last resort IS more accurate.

| We took our parents visiting from overseas to the hotel. It was lovely, quiet and quaint. The staff were very helpful and the gardens are absolutely beautiful. It would be a wonderful hotel to spend a quiet weekend away at.

| We were pleasantly surprised that the hotel met with our expecations based on the photos and descriptions from their website. Beautiful gardens and totally isolated location, but still close to downtown, not that far at all. We stayed on the second floor of the main building in a Garden Suite room that had a balcony. Other reviews were true, the lounge plays music all day long until after 10pm that you can hear through the floor, plus all the sounds filtering from the main floor. So if your idea of a vacation is sitting in your hotel room all day and evening, this might not be the place to go unless you spend the money and get a nicer room in one of the other buildings. If you want a beautiful hotel that you can retire to after touring Victoria, then this is the place. The experience was much nicer overall than any standard hotel.

| Interesting mix of Elizabethan Era and contemporary. Loved that there was a balcony off of our room on such sunny days.

| When I called to verify my reservation for the weekend, I was notified that my room had been upgraded from a garden suite to the next room up. When I saw the room, I was very happy as it was very large and included a fireplace, which has an easy burn log in it, along with candles above the mantle. I had no problems with any noise and was able to easily get into Victoria from the inn's location. Would definitely go back to this hotel.

| This hotel was a pleasure to stay in. We had an estate suite which overlooked the gardens and our room was very roomy and quite romantic. My only compaint is having to carry our luggage up a very dark, narrow staircase, which we also had to use to get to our room. The location is not that close to downtown(about a 10 minute drive), but being on such a quiet, serene property was nice.

| When booking the "Garden Suite" one would think you could at least see the garden. Not so in this case. Granted, we did chose the least expensive room, but we certainly did not expect to be place in a 3rd floor attic room with high windows with no screens. We could have stayed closer to town with a better room for about the same price and been much happier. We did complain about the lack of a view of the garden. When we asked to make sure we were indeed in a garden suite, the receptionist asked specifically if we were in room 15. When we confirmed, she said that it was a garden suite and that she was sorry she could not put us in another room.

| It was a nice charming hotel in a wonderful city. The staff was somewhat friendly, especially considering that the receptionist who weighed as much as our suitcases was going to help us carry our luggage up three flights of narrow stairs (there is no elevator in the three story house). The room was on the third floor in the attic basically, with very low ceilings and no view. Someone was listening to music below us, and there was a low base all night long vibrating through the floor even though we called once to complain and even went down to the receptionsit to complain again later. Also, plan on driving to all the sites as this hotel is a ten minute drive to downtown.
