| We loved this hotel. My children enjoyed the large tiled pool area all to themselves. We also enjoyed walking around the grounds and racing to the center of the maze. The hotel restaurant food was good and reasonable. The room was very spacious and the desk clerk spoke good English and was very helpful, arranging for transportation to their sister hotel in San Jose. The gift shop had some fair prices and a nice variety of items for such a small space. It was nice to see another area, not too far from the hotel, but very different from San Jose.

| My wife and I stayed one week in April 2006. One of our best vacations! Rooms are large and comfortable but plainly decorated. Beds firm but suited us fine. The hotel and gardens are beautiful. Lush tropical plants, orchids and garden art everywhere. We've been to many botanical gardens, but this is tops. The staff was extremely courteous and accomodating. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. Bar prices were inexpensive. We highly recommend this hotel, particularly to those who appreciate tropical plants. We plan to return!

| When you set reservations on the internet you never know what you may get. This hotel was tops! The service was fantastic and the 12-acre garden was worth the stay in and of itself. It is definitely the best we have stayed in for the price. The only slight drawback was the shuttle only goes to one location, but cabs are plentiful and reasonably priced.

| We had been looking forward to taking advantage of the hotel's beautiful grounds and pool but unfortunately did not arrive until after dark. We did walk around the gardens and it was lovely even so, but I'm sure its spectacular by day. I mistakenly thought there was a shuttle to take us to the airport the next day, but the shuttle just goes into San Jose. My bad. Probably would have stayed a bit closer to the airport had I known, but life's short, a couple of cab fares aren't going to kill me. Room had a lovely balcony, very clean, comfortable beds (a rarity in Costa Rica!)

| The place is a little hard to find, set back in Santo Domingo off the main roads, but it's worth the hunt. It's conveniently close to San Jose and has a shuttle that runs there (and to nearby INBioParque) every hour, but it's far enough away that you don't have to deal with the chaos of the downtown area. The staff is wonderful - everybody was helpful, friendly, and fluently bilingual (and patient with my broken spanish). The travel-office guy gave *great* directions, too, which is exceptionally useful for tourists unused to the Tico methods of navigation-by-landmark. The rooms were clean, spacious and well-appointed, and the balconies afford a great view. The beds, however, were extremely firm - a fact which I didn't object to but others might. The hotel offers free wifi for travellers, although I discovered that the signal is much more reliable in some parts of the hotel than others. The hotel restaurant is quite good - not exactly the French Laundry or anything, but they do solid continental cuisine and local dishes for reasonable prices (sea bass in garlic butter for US $6 is pretty unbeatable in the value department). Overall, the hotel is really great value for the money.
