Features
What to expect: Owned and operated by husband-wife team Danny and Judy Lowe since 1981, Orange Hill Beach Inn occupies a former orange orchard and is still shaded by tropical fruit trees. A casual, hospitable ambience is the inn's hallmark. Many guests settle in for long stays, but the inn is also popular for travelers who overnight here before leaving for out-island destinations. Amenity highlights: The inn is on a hill overlooking a beach 100 feet away. Guests may borrow snorkeling gear to explore a close-in coral reef. The inn also has a good-size pool in a garden courtyard. A surrounding sundeck offers lounge chairs and cushioned loveseat swings. Guests may dine in the hotel's restaurant, serving three meals a day. Festooned by guests' photographs, the hotel's bar is tended at night but functions on the honor system during the day. Insider tip: Every morning, the inn provides a complimentary "grocery run" shuttle to a supermarket 2 miles away. The same shuttle also transports guests to the resort strip on Cable Beach 6 miles away and returns in the late afternoon for pickup.

| We enjoyed our stay at Orange Hill. The staff were helpful and pleasant. There is a nice beach across the street where I saw a very large ray as well as a decent amount of colorful fish while snorkeling.

| Orange Hill was just what my wife and I expected, a small older hotel with friendly staff. The room was clean and well equiped but we did have some noisy neighbors in which tiled floors made even worse. The beach, just steps across the road from our hotel was beautiful...most of the time, we had 200 yards of white sand to ourselves. Orange Hill is a bit away from Cable Beach proper, so the hotel was a bit remote. We rode the buses everywhere for $1 a ride. I would suggest exchanging your dollars for their money as it would go a bit farther. Make sure you make it to the market to do some cooking in your room to cut down on expenses eventhough the market's prices were very high. We did some scuba diving at Stuart's Cove which while enjoyable was a bit of a massive type operation. The water was very clear and we saw a few sharks and some old wrecks. We would definitely go back... a good value for your money, especially if you do not plan to stay get out and see the area.

| Travel Date: 6/8 to 6/11 Perhaps I should start by telling you that if you want to stay at a five star resort, Orange Hill is not the place that you are looking for; however, if you are looking for a resort that will provide you with tranquility, a family-like atmosphere, a staff that is professional, courteous and honest, all for an affordable price, then Orange Hill is definitely the place that you are looking for. After reading various reviews about Orange Hill, and subsequently visiting the resort, I am in a position to pleasantly confirm the validity of the positive reviews that I read. Generally, traveling is a wonderful thing; this includes learning new cultures and eating different foods. My wife and I attended a wedding ceremony at an upscale resort when we visited the Bahamas. Upon talking to other guests at the wedding, we learned about several problems that thesy encountered at their respective hotels. Some problems included multiple room changes due to missing or faulty room facilities, and extremely poor hotel room conditions. At the end of it all, we were very pleased with our choice. This trip was my first visit to the Bahamas, and if am fortunate enough to return, Orange Hill will definitely be on my list of resorts to stay. I recommend this resort if you are traveling with a limited budget, but are unwilling sacrifice integrity and cleanliness.

| This place is a more laid back kind of place. A short bus ride to anywhere but nothing really to do at the hotel itself. The bar is where people seemed to hang out and meet other people. It's set up as an "honor" bar meaning that all the liquor is there and you notate when you have a drink and they charge it to your room. Internet access is available again on an "honor" basis. I brought my laptop with wireless card and accessed the internet as much as I wanted without paying for it. By now I think internet access should be free to paying customers. Overall, a nice, family atmosphere close to everything but kind of out by itself.

| The one redeeming quality of Orange Hill Beach Inn is that it gives you a beautiful view of the beach in front of it. Most of my dissatisfaction came from the fact that the owners of this hotel only seem interested in making money off of their guests rather than pleasing them with genuine customer-centered service. During my 4-night stay, the bedsheets in my room were not changed a single time. And what they called a "Christmas dinner" ended up being over-priced, homemade food marinated in extra-salty ocean water. Another trip to the Bahamas is not likely for me, but if I were to go again...I'd spend the extra money on a larger chain hotel where the service is actually worth the price.

| We had a wonderful time at Orange Hill! Everyone goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and like part of the family. We got a real sense of the laid back and friendly Bahamian culture. We definitely would recommend this hotel. It's perfect for divers too because its the closest to Stuarts Cove. Please note, that if you are looking for a "dress-code enforced resort/spa" type vacation this is probably not the place for you.

| Nice quiet location, away from major tourist areas of Nassau. A spectacular view from balcony of the ocean. Nice beach across the street. Perfect hotel for travelers looking for a simple room with a bed and TV. Also very close to the airport, but no noise. Very close to two popular dive charter's. The one drawback is the dearth of resturants nearby, it is probably a 15-20 minute drive to where the majority of resturants are.(Nassau) The hotels resturant is about on par with an aging diner. Overall a pleasant place to stay.

| While the people are very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is rustic. The bathroom was outdated with a toilet that didn't flush right and low water pressure in the shower. Quite far from the other attractions, with no amenities on the beach. Small pool. Defintely not recommended if you have childres as there is not much to keep them occupied and the rooms are small.
