| The Cardinal is a very nice european-style hotel in a great location in the business district of Palo Alto, just a short walk or drive from Stanford University. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a modern luxury hotel, but is a very nice, comfortable place to stay. Highly recommended!

| Great hotel with friendly, attentive staff and a wonderfully retro decor. The shared bathroom and shower scared me at first, but they were both private and very clean. Just a block off University, the Cardinal was the perfect place for me (and I could actually open the windows and get fresh air into my room!).

| The Cardinal Hotel is old, but well maintained. I had a room with no bathroom, so I had to wander down the hall to use the toilet and the shower. It was all very clean, though, so I didn't mind, especially as I got a rate through Expedia. The hotel is very well located. There is free parking in a city parking garage very near by. There was Internet access, but it was a little difficult to access.

| Very good location, one block away from main street in Palo Alto. Very nice that they have free coffee and tea service all day long. Rooms need revamping (a lot), they appear old and rundown, they have a strange smell when you arrive, maybe from the products used for cleaning or the italian restaurant in the premises ( very garlicky). A bit noisy in the late nights when patrons are leaving the bars close by. Again, great location if only they could invest some serious money in renewing the rooms. .

| Set in the heart of downtown Palo Alto, this hotel has a old style feel to it. Be warned it's not the quietest city at night and a room near a street can be slightly noisy. Despite this I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to spend less and still have a nice feeling when they arrive.
