Popular with locals and visitors alike and widely acknowledged as one of the best east of Faro, the principal nearby beach, Praia de Tavira, runs along the Atlantic Ocean side of Tavira Island. The beach features water sports, restaurants, and a clothing-optional section. The hotel provides complimentary bus service to a companion hotel, Vila Galé Albacora, four km (2.5 miles) away. The service runs year-round for the benefit of winter beach walkers. Independent water taxis to the beach are available two blocks from the hotel (surcharge). In addition to a heated indoor pool, the hotel's health club includes a steam room and a fitness center equipped with a universal gym, cardio machines, and free weights, whilst a massage service is also available (use of the indoor pool and hot tub are complimentary to all guests, whilst fees apply for use of other health facilties). An Internet center provides two computers with dial-up connections (surcharge). The spacious tile-and-marble-floor lobby features a three-story-high, light-blue dome and matching columns and supplies overstuffed seating and leather footstools for comfortable lounging. The hotel activities/entertainment staff provides year-round group activities and presents shows on some nights in the large lounge called Ali Ba Bar. A complimentary kids club containing games and play areas is open year-round.

The hotel offers discounts at several nearby golf courses, including the nearest, Benamor, which is six km (3.5 miles) away. Birdwatchers can ride the hotel's complimentary shuttle bus to a companion hotel, Vila Galé Albacora, four km (2.5 miles) away, and explore the sanctuary of Ria Formosa Park surrounding Vila Galé Albacora. What to expect: Opened in June 2002, the hotel serves as a holiday destination for both families and couples from the U.S. and Europe. Spacious public areas and a sunbathing courtyard offer ample space for rest, while group activities (most varied in the summer season) entertain day and night. Amenity highlights: The hotel's expansive central courtyard features a 21.5-by-14-meter (70-by-45-foot) pool and a 4.6-meter (15-foot-diameter) children's pool as well as palm trees, lawns, and lounge chairs. A health club includes an 11-meter (36-foot-diameter) heated, year-round indoor pool in a rotunda under a dark-blue dome ceiling. The rotunda's windows let in outside light. Padded lounge chairs provide comfort. A raised spa tub can accommodate four. Insider tip: Said to be one of Europe's oldest olive trees, a massive growth dating to the 17th century, lies within the traditional fishing village of Pedras del Rey six km (3.5 miles) from the hotel.

| We stayed for three nights while we were visiting Tavira on vacation. The hotel was clean, well maintained, and offered nice amenities (i.e., great pool, good breakfast). Overall it was good value for our money.

| My fiance' and I went to this hotel for our anniversary. We loved it. The staff was friendly and multi-lingual, which is perfect because we are a b-lingual family. My fiance' said he felt like a king. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the hoisekeeping staff was friendly,helpful, and also spoke several languages. The indoor pool was EXCELLENT, and we enjoyed the food in the restaurant. I am not too fond of live bands but the band was great! We danced!! Along with many other couples. We will definitely be going back for our next anniversary!
