Disney's Old Key West Resort Amenities
Groups and families choose this Key West–inspired Disney Home Away From Home Resort because of the laid-back atmosphere and extra amenities offered in the guestrooms. Studio units provide microwaves, refrigerators, and wet bars while one- and two-bedroom villas have full kitchens and jetted tubs. Located within a mile of the Downtown Disney® Area and Epcot®, the palm tree–studded resort offers a breezy atmosphere and plenty of recreational fun.

There are four pools and a children’s pool on site as well as several playgrounds, a video arcade, and a fitness center with services offered by Slappy Joe’s Massage Room (fee applies). Guests can rent hydrobikes and pontoon, canopy, and pedal-boats at the resort's marina. Conch Flats General Store offers sundries and Disney souvenirs.

Complimentary scheduled transportation via motorcoach is provided to all areas of the Walt Disney World® Resort, and water-launch service is available from the resort to the Downtown Disney® Area.

    Recreation
The resort has four outdoor pools with adjacent playgrounds and spa tubs, and a separate children’s pool. Free weights, exercise equipment, stationary bikes, stair-steppers, and treadmills are available in the fitness center, which also offers massage services. Guests can rent canoes, hydrobikes, and pontoon, canopy, and pedal-boats at the on-site marina, and regular bicycles are available for exploring resort grounds. In addition, there are three tennis courts on the premises (racquets can be rented) as well as basketball, volleyball, and shuffleboard courts. Joggers can run on a 1.5-mile path that circles the hotel while guests who prefer indoor recreation visit the arcade or Community Hall for video games, pinball, and board-game fun.

Both Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and the 36-hole Disney’s Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf Course are located within two miles of this resort via complimentary Disney transportation. The resort’s guest services desk can assist with reservations for any one of Disney’s five tour-caliber golf courses, all located on Walt Disney World® Resort property. A nine-hole walking course is also available.

    Features
Disney’s Magical Express: Guests of this resort are eligible for Disney’s Magical Express Service – motorcoaches take you from Orlando International Airport to your Disney Resort hotel, while Disney picks up your bags and take them straight to your room. And when your vacation is over, you and your bags are whisked from the Disney Resort hotel back to the airport. This offer is good through October 2006.

What to expect: A comfortable, intimate lobby with bookshelves and seating areas greets families and other vacationers at this resort. Modeled after a small, turn-of-the-20th-century Key West town, the resort is nestled among tropical plants, palm trees, and waterways. The atmosphere is one of relaxed island living.

Amenity highlights: The resort has four outdoor pools with adjacent playgrounds, a separate children’s pool, and a fitness center with free weights, cardiovascular-exercise equipment, and massage therapy. The on-site marina offers rentals of hydrobikes and pontoon, canopy, and pedal-boats. Additional sports options include volleyball, basketball, tennis, and shuffleboard.

Insider tip: Guests staying in Walt Disney World® Resort Hotels enjoy the Extra Magic Hour—an extra hour of “magic” in the theme parks on selected days. Guests should check with guest services to learn which park is offering the Extra Magic Hour on any given day. Guests also receive complimentary transportation to theme parks, hotels, and attractions throughout Walt Disney World® Resort and Downtown Disney® Area.

Olivia’s Café - This indoor café offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. American fare and regional specialties top the menu and include hamburgers, pasta, Conch Chowder, fried chicken, and Blue Lump Crab Cakes when in season.

Good’s Food to Go - Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks are served on the go at this quick-service outlet. Menu items include hamburgers, hot dogs, cold sandwiches, salads, and frozen yogurt.

Turtle Shack - Seasonal counter service is offered at the Shack, which serves sandwiches, snacks, specialty drinks, and beer. Grills and covered seating are available.

The staff is extremely helpful and consideate of your needs. Our non-smoking room was unavailable when we arrived and we were upgaded to a smoking suite for the night. The next day we were upgraded to a water view non smoking suite (The smoking rooms are terrible if you dont smoke.)The ferry is fun to take to Downtown Disny. The pool and slide are great.

My husband and I were a little disappointed when we walked into our "studio" room. It was an ordinary hotel room that we could have found elsewhere for MUCH cheaper. The grounds are beautiful, if you can try to get a one bedroom villa because it has a whirlpool tub and washer/dryer where as the studios do not. Laundry facilities are fairly closeby though. Purchase goods for your room from a supermarket if you can because the store on the grounds is SUPER expensive.

The room/suite was wonderful. there were two bedrooms for privacy and a central kitchen/den area. It worked well for meeting and planning with the other couple staying with us.It was Disney at its best, service and cleanliness-wise.

I was glad I had. The resort is too big to rely on Disney transportation within the resort and to the parks. I was much quicker to drive to the parks each day.

We are a family of 5 and this was a great option for us. We stayed in a 2 bed villa and the accommodation was great, lots and lots of room and we found the Disney transport system very convenient. Old Key West isnt cheap but it is definitely worth it if you are after a resort retreat as well as proximity to the theme parks. Overall, sensational and we would definitely stay here again.

Very clean spacious and well-appointed "studio" condo had lovely covered patio with ceiling fan, huge bedroom,living/dining area,well-equipped kitchen, superb whirlpool in a gorgeous bathroom with separate his/hers sinks! Very private-- bamboo and shrubs surrounding. Also a large laundry area in condo with iron and board. SO convenient...I did a load every night --they provided the detergent--and went home with clean clothes! Completely wheelchair/handicap accessible. King bed so comfortable. Both TVs working perfectly with cable. We had trouble with our Internet access and while staff responsive, the problem was never solved. (It would keep "dropping" the service.) We adored the restaurant on site --Olivia's -- family oriented but the food was fantastic at both dinner and breakfast. (And my husband and I always dine at "upscale" restaurants.) I kept feeling like I was in Key West-- Disney Magic! TIP: the creamy grits are "to die for"!! Parking isexcellent. The bus service to everywhere in Disney was convenient and frequent. Pool nearby with Turtle Shack bar. We took the motor launch each night to Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island..never had to wait. Staff were welcoming and extremely helpful. Old Key West was exactly what you would expect from Walt Disney World -- perfect in every way for an escape from the "real world"!

If you're looking for a flashy, fast-paced resort, Old Key West is not for you. But if your family is looking for a relaxing getaway, Old Key West may be the right choice. My family stayed in a 1 bd. villa and were very pleased with the spacious accomodations. The staff was also extremely polite and even helped with our early departure to the airport (we had to leave by 4:30 am to catch our plane!). The day before they arranged cab service to be waiting outside our room and even sent one of the resort workers to help load our luggage. My children loved the pool with the sand castle slide. We also enjoyed eating out by the marina after swimming. There is a general store on site, so we were able to buy the necessities ( and some non-necessities such as ice cream!).The only downfall was the distance between the main building and some of the villas, but the weather was perfect and we actually enjoyed the walk (we did use the bus system , too.)The resort is fairly large, but it was amazing at how peaceful it was...and after spending the day at one of the Disney parks , it was nice to "come home" to it at the end of the day!

The Old Key West was a great place to stay. We were close to the pool, bus stop and resturant in a beautiful one bedroom with large whirlpool bath. The only complaint was about the transportation. Old Key West buses were very slow compared to other resorts in picking us up from parks or Downtown Disney. Christmas time is very crowded.
