The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa Amenities
Set on approximately 300 acres with spectacular desert and mountain views, this resort opened in 2003 as part of a planned community of shops, luxury condominiums, and golf. The 27-hole golf course was designed by Scott Miller, formerly a senior designer for Jack Nicklaus. The spa includes a fitness center with movement studio, juice bar, and Fit4Golf program. The resort also has two outdoor pools, a 110-foot water slide and a 900-foot-long flowing river for inner-tube trips, and a sandy beach with volleyball court. The Tumbleweed Kids Club includes fun and educational supervised activities with an Arizona theme. Children also get bath toys, coloring books, and a sports bottle or “sippy cup,” filled with complimentary beverages at mealtime. At bedtime, they can dial the story line for sleepy-time tales over their guestroom telephone. The resort includes five full-service restaurants, a Starbucks coffee bar in the lobby, and a lobby bar with cigars. The Kierland also has a business center, two ballrooms, 20 multi-function meeting rooms, and seven themed outdoor venues for meetings.

Features
What to expect: Opened in November 2003, the Kierland is one of Arizona’s newest resorts. It’s already a hit with business travelers, golfers, couples seeking a quiet getaway, and families who enjoy the great outdoors. The entry is flanked by 12-foot-tall, cast-glass panels glistening with water that trickles down into a bed of river rock. The striking view from the entrance is of lake, golf course, and mountains. Arizona art, historical artifacts, and photographs are displayed throughout the resort. Amenity highlights: The resort’s Troon-managed Kierland Golf Club offers three nine-hole courses with desert views, native plants, and more than 300 bunkers, lakes, and dry washes. A 19,000-square-foot clubhouse includes a golf school, pro shop, and restaurant. Agave, the Arizona Spa, has 20 treatment rooms and specializes in Native American–inspired remedies. Botanical-based treatments include the Blue Agave Paraffin Wrap and Desert Wildflower Wrap. The resort is a block from Kierland Commons, a 38-acre shopping village. A complimentary shuttle takes guests into Scottsdale. Insider tip: Arizona’s official state historian, Marshall Trimble, worked with the Kierland staff for two years, providing them with a background in Arizona history to help answer guests’ questions. Hallways and lobbies have different Arizona themes, including geology, environment, and early exploration. The hotel’s Ali-Shonak Library includes books about Arizona.
Deseo - Resort’s signature dinner restaurant. Upscale dining highlighting Nuevo Latino cuisine, such as Coconut Calamari Soup, Crispy Crab Empanada, and Seared Tuna. | I was there for a meeting. The banquet staff was very friendly and helpful. We plan on returning next year for the same meeting. The hotel has a great pool and there is a golf course on the property.

| Hotel rooms were very small. Resort looked much nicer in the photos. Pool water was extremely warm and was not at all refreshing. Guests were allowing their dogs to swim in the pool. Staff at the hotel was extremely friendly.

| Spent 3 nights at the Westin Kierland Resort and was impressed by the professionalism of every employee of the hotel. We were even welcomed by a security guard in the elevator. The views from the 11th floor overlooking the golf course are unbelieveable. I would highly recommend this hotel to business as well as leisure vacations. I will be back with my wife and 4 kids soon (they have 1/2 and full day programs for children with supervised activities like cooking, etc.).

| Very much enjoyed the hotel and amenities. The signature restaurant, Deseo, was first rate. Excellent service, excellent food. They have an open kitchen, which was kind of fun. The hotel itself was quite nice. Opened in 2002. The golf course ends at the hotel courtyard, so the view was of expansive grass and greenery. The rooms were nice, but standard, except for the bed. Westin has a program going where they are putting in top notch beds and bedding. And it shows! You can even buy it! And we're seriously considering ordering the same spring and mattress.

| This hotel is new and very comfortable. The only problem I had was that the first room that I received, although it was "non-smoking" reeked of cigarette smoke. When I asked to be moved, I got double beds and lost my nice view. I also feel that a hotel of this calibre, should not ask me to reuse my towels.

| This hotel was not only beautiful, but was welcoming to everyone. We showed up in my Honda as two college kids and were treated just as well as the mercedes behind us... as it should be. The pool is amazing. Service, drinks and food are amazing out there. The lazy river is the ultimate place to be! Food in their premier restaurant was not too great, but saloon was a ton of fun and breakfast buffet was phenominal! We will stay here again and again and again!
