    Recreation
The hotel extends along 137m (150 yds) of Marigot Bay (Baie de Marigot), with a weathered-wood sundeck extending into the Caribbean Sea and dividing the hotel's beachfront into two sections. The section with more sand is furnished with lounge chairs and thatched shades. Terraced above the other section is a 21-by-7-m (69-by-23-ft) swimming pool surrounded by a sundeck.

A water-sports hut on the beach rents kayaks, pedal boats, snorkeling gear, and body boards and arranges for other water sports such as water skiing, personal watercraft, motor boating, sailing, and snorkeling and scuba-diving excursions.

The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.

    Features
Please note: The restaurant will be closed September 10, 2005–October 14, 2005, although breakfast and limited snack service will be available.

What to expect: A four-story, open-air atrium lobby with water features, tropical greenery, rattan chairs, and banquettes of blue tile exemplifies the hotel's casual and breezy French West Indian style. Like the entire seafront side of the hotel, the lobby provides views of the Caribbean Sea and the neighboring island of Anguilla.

Amenity highlights: A weathered-wood sundeck extends into the Caribbean Sea at the hotel's front, dividing 137m (150 yds) of beach into two sections, one for sunbathing and swimming and the other—with less sand—for swimming. Terraced above the beach are a swimming pool and sundeck. A water-sports hut on the beach rents kayaks, pedal boats, snorkeling gear, and body boards, and arranges for motorized water sports.

Insider tip: On Wednesdays and Saturdays, produce, seafood, and meat vendors set up a colorful, open-air Caribbean market under corrugated-steel roofs along the waterfront, 500m (547 yds) from the hotel.

Please note: The restaurant will be closed September 10, 2005–October 14, 2005, although breakfast and limited snack service will be available.

A complimentary cocktail party is provided each week.

Le Corsaire - Open-air sea-view restaurant/bar with Caribbean murals, white linens, blue-and-white directors' chairs. American buffet breakfast served year-around. À la carte lunches and dinners served year-round except annual staff-holiday period from early September to mid-October. Weekly dinner buffet with live entertainment during winter/spring high season. French/international cuisine.

Le West Indies - Lobby bar/lounge with pool table. Open early evening to late night. Pianist two-three times weekly.

Pool Bar - Casual open-air spot overlooking sea adjacent to pool. Open mid-morning to early evening.

This is a charming hotel, well maintained in a great location just a short walk from Marigot and the marina which is full of nice restaurants and shops. The service was pleasant, a decent breakfast came very quickly and the rooms are nice. Definitely recommended if you want to be close to Marigot. Not much of a beach in front but there are so many in St Martin you will probably drive to them. There is a nice pool however and a great view of Marigot bay and neighbouring Anguilla

I stayed at this hotel 1 night end of April (slightly off-season) and the hotel was maybe only 1/3 occupied. So my impression was that the place was very quiet, the average age of the other guests between 35 and 55. I loved my room, specially the bathroom was so nice, modern and clean. I had a room with terrasse on the sea, which I definitely recommend because the rooms on the street must be more noisy (that street is busy day and night). Front desk was helpfull, but a little slow sometimes. All in all, a great place to stay !

This is a very nice hotel, on the French side, with a great view on the beach. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The people were very courteous, friendly and warm. The hotel is close to a nice supermarket and Marigot, both within walking distance. My biggest surprise was the number of folks that have been to the island over and over for the last 10 to 20 years. My only concern in the hotel was water pressure, but that seems to be a problem on the island.

I would recommend staying at the Hotel Beach Plaza, however I would not recommend the restaurant. We ate lunch and breakfast at the hotel and was disappointed both times.

Thanks to Expedia, our check-in and check-out was flawless. Being non-French speaking Americans, if there had been reservation, occommadation or any other possible problems, we could have had real problems. Our traveling companions, questioned the possibility of changing their room to ocean-side, due to street noise, which they thought would be a problem. As it was, the traffic noise settled after 9:00 p.m. and they found it unnecessary. The furnishings were very attractive and the bathroom was very charming with the white/black tile and pedestal sink.Breakfast buffet provided was a good start to the day. The dining room was very lovely. The setting was attractive at all times of day.
