| The hotel staff was great and the service impeccable. This was our second stay, but the hotel itself is showing significant age and needs updating. I know that is part of the Hollywood/Palm Springs mystique but the hotel should not be rated 4 stars. The restaurant, Melvyn's, is one of the best in the area but the hotel definitley needs updating. However if you want the old mystique that Palm Springs is famous for this is the place.

| This was one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in recently. It has an ideal location in the village. The service is outstanding. The attached restaurant, Melvyn's, offers excellent fare. The wait staff are appropriately attentive, accomodating, and genuinely friendly. We were there during one of the hottest times of the year, 115F, and while a huge brushfire blazed 30 miles to the northeast. But don't worry, it's a dry heat (wink, wink). The room air conditioner was overwhelmed in the late afternoon and proved the wisdom of the siesta. By evening, temperatures returned to normal in the room and were easily tolerated outdoors. This would be an excellent place for a winter vacation.

| Friendly check-in, doting service. Also didn't feel like they were trying to nickle and dime us. The sodas in the fridge were complimentary, and the poolside menu (available upon request) was the same as that in their restaurant. The location was great too.... it felt quaint and isolated, yet was within three blocks of Palm Springs' main drag (Palm Canyon Drive). My only caveat would go to those with kids... this place is very quiet, and better suited for "grown-ups."

| This retreat was just perfect for my husband and myself! Relaxing and peaceful - away from children. The Bedtime Stories Book written by the owner was FANTASTIC!!! The restaurant's charm and delicious food was wonderful. Highly recommend this retreat for those that are wanting to escape the fast pace of life and slow down here to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and each other!

| It was spacious, and so nicely decorated. Fireplace, big comfortable chairs, beautiful old wooden floor, brass bed, dressing table with lighted mirror. The shower was great. They paid attention to every detail and include some nice complimentary snacks and drinks. The pool and jazuzzi are open 24 hrs! It feels like such a special occasion, and at the same time you feel right at home.
