St. Kitts Marriott Resort & The Royal Beach Casino Amenities
Under a ceiling painted and lit to resemble an evening cloud-dappled sky and amid decor suggestive of a Mediterranean village complete with red-tiled roofs and wood-frame windows, the resort's 40,000-square-foot casino offers Caribbean stud poker, blackjack, roulette, craps, baccarat, and slot machines from late morning until very late at night.

A 15,000-square-foot health-and-beauty spa decorated in cool pastels and natural woods has men's and women's saunas, steam rooms, hot and cold spa tubs, and relaxation lounges. Treatment rooms include a couples' suite with twin tables, a two-person jetted tub, and a large glassed-in shower. Hydrotherapy, massage, body treatments, and facials are offered, along with hair and nail care.

Adjacent to the spa, an expansive, air-conditioned fitness center offers cardio and weight machines, free weights, and a wood-floor, mirror-walled workout area for complimentary classes such as Tae Bo, yoga, and East Meets West (stretching, breathing, resistance-training). Personal training and private yoga sessions are available for fees. Complimentary calisthenics are conducted on the beach each morning.

An air-conditioned children's center (ages 4–12) offers supervised activities for half- and full-day fees. A 24-hour business center provides two computers with dial-up Internet access (fee charged). A variety of complimentary activities and competitions are offered daily in and around the main pool and on the beach. After dark on some evenings, bands provide concerts in an open-air theater.

    Recreation
The resort includes four illuminated, artificial-turf tennis courts, two shuffleboard courts, beach and pool volleyball nets, and a swimming pool with basketball hoops and a football-toss target. Tennis racquets are available for rent, and tennis lessons are available (fee charged). An 18-hole championship golf course and clubhouse are scheduled for completion in 2004.

The Atlantic Ocean along the beach fronting the resort is normally too rough for safe swimming. The resort provides complimentary shuttle service to a calm Caribbean Sea beach 1 mile away, where a water sports center rents snorkeling gear, small sailboats, windsurfers, boogie boards, and kayaks. The resort's recreational center also rents snorkeling gear and boogie boards, as well as bicycles.

The recreational activities listed below are available either on-site or near the resort; fees may apply.

    Features
What to expect: This international destination resort offers attractions for families, couples, groups, and conventions. An atrium with massive wood beams soars four stories above marble floors and mosaic-tile inlays in the lobby and shopping arcade. Past granite waterfall-walls, stairs lead past a scaled-down replica of Columbus's Santa Maria and to an enormous plaza lit by wrought-iron street lamps.

Amenity highlights: Lodging buildings cluster around two large freeform pools, and a third freeform activity pool with swim-up bar is in the center of the resort. Each pool includes a shallow children's section and is paired with a round, 20-person spa tub. Though the Atlantic Ocean often is too rough for safe swimming, the ochre-colored, 4-mile beach is both long and deep and features 84 permanent, blue-and-white, gazebo-like shades.

Insider tip: Accessible by rented bicycle, a 10-minute walk, or complimentary shuttle, a quintessential beach shack serves grilled foods and tropical drinks alongside the Caribbean Sea. The spot is 1 mile from the resort across a flat, narrow strip of land that connects the central section of St. Kitts with its peninsula—both ruggedly hilly.

My husband and I just returned; we had a very peaceful yet wonderful vacation. Beautiful grounds and not many guests, the locals said that it was the "low" season. Ocean was kind of rough, but we were able to snorkel off the beach (breakers were in place to calm the waves). The food wasn't too bad,do invest in an excellent meal at the steakhouse, quite pricey but good. The room was comfortable and well kept, fourth floor in main building ocean view. Refrigerator in room, have the cab driver take you to a local supermarket for snacks and drinks (much cheaper than hotel store or restaurants). Not any nightlife at the hotel during this season.

We just love this hotel and St. Kitts. We were there last December and came back again in August. The hotel has 2 fitness centers, 3 swimming pools and a lot of activities. Don't just hang at the pools, go to the beach. It's beautiful and you can snorkel right from the shore. We were on the beach each day while the majority of the guests stayed at the pool. On the beach they provide chairs and cabanas. The food is excellent but pricey. If you are real hungry go for the breakfast buffet. You can also get food from the breakfast buffet a la carte from the coffe shop. Down the road about a mile or so is another beach and two more over the hill, a nice walk and also has snorkeling with a great lunch shack. For the adventurous walk up the steep hill and see the view of where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Carribbean Sea, we jogged over the mountain and went for a dip on the beach below (we were the only ones on the beach). There is a convenience store that has just about everything, i.e. water, snacks, yogurt, etc. The room are gorgeous and spacious. There's plenty of room for a family. We ended up on the 3rd Floor of one of the rooms near the pool, if you don't want to walk up the stairs ask for a room on the ground floor or in the main bldg. The hotel also offers excursions daily. This is great place to go for a very relaxing vacation.

The Marriott had all the comforts of home, along with the amenities you would expect in a nice Caribbean resort (fitness center, pools, pool bar, restaurants, beach, etc.). It does, however, lack any character that makes it distinctive from other resorts of comparable value I've been to in the Caribbean. But, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the hotel provided a great and comfortable base from which we were able to explore St. Kitts and Nevis.

This is definitely a good spot to stay on a pretty small island. The service is good but not amazing. Make sure to grab a drink from Mariska behind the lobby bar, she is great. I would shy away from the all-inclusive because the food is very average. Make sure you get off the resort to check out some of the island restaurants.

The resort was beautiful. The resort is about 5 minutes away from the airport, so that was also nice. The staff at the resort are not exactly the most friendly people. It is not that they were rude, it is simply that they seemed rather unhappy to be there. It was a little difficult not to notice. Other than that, the resort was beautiful, the weather was great and the island was beautiful.

At the onset of our week long vacation, we stayed with some locals but then decided that we needed to spend some time alone. The Marriot provided the comfort, privacy, luxury, and relaxed atmosphere that we wanted before returning to the states. We plan to bring our kids back next year to take advantage of the daily schedules set up by management.

The Marriott is about two years old and is a sprawling facility with plenty to do for everyone. The beach is expansive and includes lounge chairs, covered gazebos, water activities, and a nearby bar/restaurant. The spa service is great and the gym includes all the necessary equipment. My wife and I were surprised at how good the restaurants were--try Blu for some excellent seafood. If you are a gambler, the in-house casino was very nice. And the Keys Cigar Bar was a personal favorite. For the kids, an arcade room, daily activities run by the staff, and the pool or beach. Highly recommended.
