Motorized vehicles are not allowed on the grounds and at night, torches illuminate the walkways, giving the resort a decidedly romantic appeal. With just the right blend of traditional design and modern conveniences and luxuries, the hotel is a great place for couples looking to escape, as well as be pampered. Amenity highlights: The resort is styled after a Mayan community, featuring thatched-roof huts. The spa offers a range of traditional Mayan-inspired treatments. One of these, the temazcal Mayan steam bath, is a traditional therapy, involving a stone hut, local herbs, and massage, designed to purify the body and open the mind. Insider tip: The reef directly in front of the hotel is ideal for snorkeling and viewing tropical fish. Guests are given new snorkels to use and then take home.
