| Not a huge hotel, but a great location, very attractive (rooms, lobby, restaurant, and the rooftop lounge), and spectacular personal-service.

| Initially, I checked into the hotel and was given a small, dark room with one small window overlooking a rooftop and no closet or even a luggage stand. I mentioned it to the front desk, and they did move me to a much nicer room with french doors that opened onto a balcony. They were very pleasant in dealing with my request. I was extremely disappointed with the hotel's rooftop restaurant. The service was terrible, and the food was worse. I ordered a salad off the menu that had grilled chicken and avocado, and asked for some bread to go with it. The server seemed stumped by the bread request. The salad came and had no avocado (it was just lettuce and chicken), and the bread was rock-hard stale. I asked about the avocado, and the waitress was unfamiliar with the menu, and had to go check. She came back and told me that there was no avocado, so I'd have to go without. I was basically charged $16 for lettuce and a few slices of chicken. When I pointed this out, the waitress just stood and looked uncomfortable, and never suggested a way to improve my lunch. Overall, the hotel misses the mark, mostly because of the service. There are many nicer places to stay in Charleston.

| This is a beautiful, luxurious new hotel located in the middle of many great restaurants and sites. We enjoyed our spacious room w/ a small balcony overlooking the Market, especially the Hermes amenities. Our two criticisms were that housekeeping came to make up our room somewhat late in the day and that we called to ask about the heated pool for our February visit and were not told that it would be closed for the winter--VERY disappointing!

| Old South charm. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Hotel is beautiful with old-fashioned styling - dark wood, glass & brass (plus all the modern comforts). Great bed linens! We'd definitely stay here again. The lobby restaurant - Grill 225 is wonderful!!

| The hotel and staff were very nice. The room was quite plush and the concierge very helpful. There was some confusion with how to handle the billing on checkout due to reservation going through Expedia. The rooms facing the market area were noisy at night due to music from nearby bars. The hotel staff was quite responsive to this complaint and within a few minutes the noise level was reduced as the bar closed its doors.

| Outstanding small boutique hotel feel. Excellent service from attentive, conscientious staff in all areas. Rooftop poll and bar make this the only place to stay in Charleston. 5 star in my book and I'll revisit it as often as I'm able.
