Features
The Ice Hotel's 2005 season runs from January 7th until April 3rd (weather permitting).
Covering a total surface of 30,000 square feet, The Ice Hotel is one of the most unusual undertakings in the world. During the five weeks that it takes to craft this architectural marvel, 11,000 tons of snow and 400 tons of ice are used. The hotel's five-foot-thick walls maintain a consistent internal temperature of between 23° and 28°F (-2° to -5° Celsius). The icy ceilings reach heights of more than 18 feet (6 meters). The art galleries and suites all feature original artwork. A restful night’s sleep is ensured by the Chlorophylle sleeping bags atop fur pelts. The hotel gift store offers necessities such as long johns and mittens. The outdoor spa tubs and sauna offer Nordic-style relaxation. The hotel recommends a maximum one-night stay; children age 5 and younger must sleep with their parents. Children age six and older stay for 50% of the adult rate (for food and lodging) in rooms that can accommodate more than two guests. All stays are 100% nonrefundable. Heated men's and women's dressing areas and bathrooms are adjacent to the hotel. Each dressing room is one large, enclosed area; there are approximately 2 to 3 stalls and sinks per bathroom. Because daily activity tours start at 10:30 AM, wake-up calls ring throughout the hallways between 6:30 and 8 AM.
Auberge Duchesnay - Lake views. Fireplace. Open daily.
