just spent a few days at the island inn and was quite satisfied with the whole experience.didn't know what to expect after reading some of the complaints from the other travelers but we found this quaint, clean, easygoing inn to be just what the doctor ordered.i guess we're not as demanding as some, but if you like local flavor,a fun time, and a beautiful beach view, then this hotel just might be for you!

This is absolutely not a 2.5 star hotel! The view of the beach is blocked by the tarp over the bar that is right below the room. They had a live band that played until 12:30am Friday and Saturday-the band wasn't bad, but it would have been nice to hear each other talk. The second night we were there a roach crawled across my face while we were in bed. I didn't sleep very well that night. When we finally got the manager he never apologized and was not very concerned. He said he could give me $20 back. He would not give me the owners name or number. When we got to the hotel a roach crawled out of our suitcase at the security desk-it was disgusting. Don't go there!!!!!!!!!

I just came back from a long weekend at Island Inn on the Beach. Its a super quaint hotel on Gulf Blvd, which is literally right on the beach. 4 of us went and got the largest condo. Splurge! Its only a little more and it was bigger than my apartment. The living room has a double bed and a fold out couch, full kitchen with fridge, oven, stove, sink, and microwave. The bathroom was my only qualm, the toilet was kind of old and jittery, but other than that, loved it. The back bedroom had two double beds, and was very spacious. We were definitely to drink and not worry about neighbors, but also know that this isnt the typical party party hotel. I loved it!

Funky! But the ambience is PARTY excellent... and each room (apparently) has a LARGE custom mural above the King Bed. Cool.

Right across the street from one of the nicest, cleanest beaches, Island Inn on the Beach lives up to its name. We enjoyed friendly staff, spacious rooms and comfortable beds. The tiki hut Wanna Wanna bar serves great food and a variety of beverages. Their ceviche is fresh and tasty, the burgers juicy and the shrimp cocktail delicous. With the sound of the ocean and a decent band, evenings are very enjoyable. We'd definitely stay here again.

Torn between the lack of service and poor quality of room, and the proximity to the beach and low key nature of the inn. The only time we saw an employee of the inn was at check in (if you don't count the Wanna Wanna as part of the service staff). As for the poor quality of our room - the bathroom door wouldn't shut all of the way, the shower door wouldn't stay shut without a towel over the door, the floor was really slick, and the fridge was turned off when we got there and there was water spilling out of it. On the bright side the beach was literally 20 yeards from our door. Everything was low key - no pressure, no hurry, not too much traffic. Another plus was that The Wave stops right out front.

My husband and I fell in love with this hotel. If you want a true island getaway I recommend this hotel. It's small and not real fancy but if you are looking for a place to enjoy the beach and really get the true island atmosphere this is the place to stay. The rooms are too cool, the murals add just enough island touch to make you like it. The Wanna Wanna Bar was the best. You can sit there have a good meal or a drink and just look out at the ocean and enjoy the view. We are already planning our next trip!
