Very much enjoyed our stay at the Lakes. The people were very nice. The whole atmosphere was breathtaking. The rooms were great. The hotel was away from the downtown, but they offered a shuttle to the city that dropped you off and picked you up. Some of the tour buses picked you up at the resort too. Can't wait to go back!!

If you want to stay in Cairns instead of Port Douglas, the Lakes is by far your best option. It's not in downtown Cairns (which is a good thing). The resort is new, clean, with four pools that were never crowded. There are a few restaurants as well that charge the same amount as in Cairns. It was also nice to have a kitchen and washer and dryer! Just make sure to rent a car when visiting.

Great resort. Great facilities for family. Wonderful resturant. Away from the Central Business District so had to rely on hotel transportation or local bus service since we had no auto.

The Lakes is a beautiful hotel. The staff was pleasant and the area was very clean. It is a bit out of town but well worth it at the end of the day. I would definitely recommend this hotel to families or couples who want to get away.

The facilities are great. The service could use some improvement though. Be prepared to pay for any extras like beach towels. The rooms are beautiful and as big as my apartment. I would reccommend renting a car for your stay in Cairns. The taxis are nice, but the costs of them start to add up. I would love to go to Cairns again, and I would stay at this hotel again in a heartbeat. P.S. The Bistro's breakfast is excellent.
