Amenities | Recreation | Features | Reviews

Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort Amenities
A health-and-beauty spa offers massage, body scrubs and wraps, facials, and hair and nail care. A fitness center provides cardio and weight machines, free weights, and sauna and steam room, and also includes a game room with coin-operated video games. An air-conditioned business center features two computers offering complimentary high-speed Internet access (restricted to guests age 18 and older).

Recreation
The sprawling, 4,300-acre resort features three 18-hole golf courses flanked by fairway-villa accommodations and situated across Highway 17 (Ocean Highway) from buildings with suites and villas offering scenic views. The courses are Litchfield Country Club, River Club, and Willbrook Plantation, each occupying a former rice plantation and featuring moss-draped oak trees and small lakes. The resort also arranges tee times at the remainder of the Myrtle Beach area's 120 golf courses.

The resort's renowned Litchfield Racquet Club offers instruction and features 17 clay tennis courts (surcharges for play). Play on hard-surface tennis courts scattered throughout the resort is complimentary. Use of a racquetball court in the Health & Fitness Center is also complimentary. Other complimentary facilities include a one-hoop basketball court.

Water attractions adjacent to the hotel where non-oceanfront, one-bedroom suites are located comprise a 75-foot-long outdoor pool and, under a translucent roof, a 50-foot-long indoor pool and four-person spa tub. These pools are accessible to all suites' guests, including those occupying oceanfront one-bedroom suites a half-mile from the hotel complex, and to all villas' guests.

Features
What to expect: Spread over 4,300 acres, the resort never feels crowded even in the busiest seasons. While golf and tennis are the principal appeals, vacationers interested in sunbathing, the beach, and water attractions also come for relaxing, tranquil holidays.

Amenity highlights: Two outdoor pools, two indoor pools, spa tubs, and a 200-foot lazy river offer diversions apart from golf on the resort's three courses and tennis on 17 clay courts at the resort's renowned Litchfield Racquet Club. The miles-long, uncrowded beach provides year-round walking opportunities and seasonal swimming-and-sunning. Salt marshes, lakes, and streams delight birdwatchers.

Insider tip: Louis' at Pawleys, a widely known restaurant serving refined Lowcountry cooking, is located 3 miles from the resort within the Hammock Shops, a collection of shops and galleries shaded by trees.

Webster's Lowcountry Grill & Tavern - Air-conditioned dining room and outdoor deck seating. Leather-couch lounge with large-screen television. Linen service. Outdoor bar in summer. Buffet and à la carte breakfast serving daily. Dinner choices such as Oysters Rockefeller, rack of lamb, steaks, baby back ribs, crab cakes, seafood.

Calypso Beach Bar & Grill - Located in adjoining companion resort Litchfield Inn. Casual, ocean-view dining room and outdoor terrace. Colorful nautical decor. Lunch/dinner menu daily featuring Lowcountry cooking. Choices include gumbo, steamed mussels, creek-shrimp fritters, crab cakes, pulled-pork sandwich, and burgers. Also, tropical drinks.

Each of the three golf course clubhouses includes a restaurant, with meal offerings and hours varying by season.

As we were only looking for a place to relax for a week, we booked at Litchfield. Having never stayed there, I of course read some reviews and got nervous, but thought we would take a chance, and boy are we glad we did!! The place and the people were fantastic! It was gorgeous! The unit we stayed in was ready when we got there (at 4)and it was more than we expected! The housekeeping kept it well stocked with towels and even were great about us sleeping in! The pools are awesome, my kids loved those even more than the beach at times. My husband and I loved the massages at the salon as well as the Starbucks. Dont let the shuttles fool you - those guys are quick - every couple of minutes. Litchfield is a treasure to behold.

The good- beautiful grounds, nice area, pools, beach area, and family oriented. The bad_ 1)our bathroom smelled like cat urine the entire time, had animal urine on towel first at check in, threw towel on walkway, next day same smell. You'd think maid service would notice and notify management.2) Went to walk up to eat at location restaurant. 30 empty tables at 6:15 pm, and the maitre de asked in an unbelievably pompous manner if we had a reservation. When I replied no, he replied maybe he could fit us in near the bar. We went elsewhere. I talked to night manager, told him the story, asked if we were dressed appropriately or was there a problem with us just showing up, was there a big group scheduled, etc... He replied no and the whole thing didn't sound like business as usual. My point, go to the restaurant, and meet the most pompous person with a pony tail ever to greet guests at a resort, or.... maybe we just smelled like cat pee!!!!!!

I was most happy with the water areas for my toddler. The lazy river, hot tubs, and pools were great for us while the children's water areas were great for my toddler. There was a pool right next to the beach and another next to the hotel. I did feel like the suite could use some updating. We had a problem in that there was water all over the floor and counter in the "kitchen" area when we arrived. We attempted to call the front desk for a few hours before anyone answered. They responded quickly once I was able to speak to someone. Overall, it was an affordable, suitable place to go with your family.

When you first drive to the office to check in, you know you are in the deep south. The friendliness of the folks lived up to my expectations of southern people.

Hotel staff were very friendly. Our room had a leaky window that let to a mild sour smell in the room. Room had efficiency kitchen but no utensils or plates of any kind which I thought was a little odd. Less than five minute drive to beach or a 10 minute walk. Litchfield Beach is a quieter beach. I would highly recommend for a relaxing vacation.

This hotel was perfect for a quiet get-away, far enough outside of Myrtle Beach to avoid traffic and congestion, as well as all of the party life. But, it was still close enough to enjoy some of what Myrtle Beach offers. Murrell's Inlet is nearby and a wonderful place to go for food.
