| When we pulled up late to Auberge du Vieux Port in our taxi, we could see that we were in for a first-rate experience: the young bellman was waiting for us outside the inn as if he had been expecting us and was a bit worried. It was a good start to a two-night stay, made even better when we were issued into our room: spacious and beautiful, with a truly king-sized king size bed to luxuriate in, hardwood floors, and striking exposed-brick walls. The location is terrific, on the charming Rue de la Commune near the waterfront of Old Montreal, and there's a neat rooftop deck for noshing and sipping in the evening. One note---I'd suggest that in a city with many good eating choices, the hotel restaurant is a tad pricy. Try L'Express on St. Denis Street!
