Mandarin Oriental, New York Amenities
Throughout the hotel, contemporary design and technology blend with an Asian aesthetic. Antique Mandarin silk robes are displayed on walls, ginkgo-leaf motifs accent the light-filled public spaces, and bamboo floors and bubbling waters create serenity in the spa. Modern artworks by Dale Chihuly and Valerio Adami highlight the lobbies and lounge. And seemingly everywhere, from the Asiate restaurant to the indoor lap pool to the guestrooms, are wondrous views of the skyline, Central Park, and the Hudson River. Seven thousand square feet of meeting and banquet space include a ballroom with three immense chandeliers and city vistas. A business center on the 38th floor has two computers with high-speed Internet access; guestrooms have wireless, high-speed, and TV Internet access (surcharge). The hotel is part of the Time Warner Center, which also contains luxury condominiums, restaurants, entertainment venues, offices, and the Shops at Columbus Circle, with 50 upscale retailers.

The fitness center, also on the 36th floor, offers locker rooms with saunas, complimentary fruit-infused waters, top-of-the-line equipment (including cardio machines with individual TV monitors), and sweeping views of the river and city. Central Park, a half-block from the hotel, encompasses 843 acres of meadows, woods, cliffs, ravines, gardens, paths, and lakes in an emerald setting. Popular walking and running routes include Central Park Drive (closed to traffic during scheduled hours), the path around the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir, and the Ramble, which is also known for bird-watching. The Loeb Boathouse, on a 20-acre lake, offers rowboat and bicycle rentals. Features
What to expect: Opened in December 2003, this hotel occupies floors 35-54 of the Time Warner Center’s north high-rise. The center, sheathed in reflective glass, rises at Columbus Circle, where Midtown, Central Park, and Upper Manhattan converge. An elliptical lobby is dominated by a glass ceiling sculpture created by Dale Chihuly in partnership with Waterford Crystal. Express elevators ascend to the 35th floor, where the “sky lobby” includes a silver-leaf ceiling, a grand staircase with gingko-leaf motif, and Chihuly’s graceful Crystal Cranes sculpture. Just beyond, the lobby lounge provides forever views of the park and city.
Amenity highlights: The two-level Spa at Mandarin Oriental is distinguished by the Time Ritual concept, where guests book customized experiences in blocks of time, rather than by treatment. In addition to seven treatment rooms, the spa offers “experience” showers infused with soothing fragrances, a steam room, Vitality Pools with underwater air beds, a tea lounge, and men’s and women’s relaxation lounges. The private VIP Spa Suite has two treatment beds, fireplace, elevated bath, and shiatsu and Thai massage. On the 36th floor, the indoor lap pool and fitness center afford dramatic city, park, and river views. The views are also spectacular from Asiate, the hotel’s French-Japanese restaurant.
Insider tip: Guests can catch a rising star at Lincoln Center, three blocks away, when the Juilliard School presents hundreds of student performances at little or no cost. The music, drama, and dance divisions showcase their best work throughout the school year. Tickets are required for the larger events and are available at the Lincoln Center box office. Even sold-out shows often have last-minute seats available; standby lines form an hour before concert time.
Asiate - French-Japanese cuisine. Central Park and Manhattan skyline vistas from 35th-floor perch. Floor-to-ceiling wall of wine collection of 1,300 bottles. Tree-branch ceiling sculpture of glass infused with mercury, evoking trees of Central Park. Menu highlights: Wagyu Beef with Smoked Potato Purée, Lobster Casserole with Black Mussels, Steamed Ocean Perch with Asian Vegetables, Pan-Roasted Branzino (sea bass) with Soft Shell Crab. Six-course tasting menu, pre-theater menu. Breakfast and dinner daily, lunch weekdays, brunch weekends. Mandarin Oriental Lobby Lounge - Floor-to-ceiling windows framing spectacular views of Central Park. Striking modern art by Valerio Adami. Butterscotch-yellow seating. Railing accented with gingko-motif tooled silver. Cocktails, light fare daily. MObar - Stylish gathering place adjoining lobby. Hammered-nickel bar; custom leather seating with carved-stone backs; sheer, cocoon-like curtains. Cocktails, light fare daily.

| I booked only the 1st night of 4 at this hotel thinking it wouldn't be as nice as the other 5-star hotel I booked on Central Park. After staying the second night at the other hotel, I decided to go back to the Mandarin for the rest of the trip! The bathroom in the Hudson River view room was big and the tub had a view too (as well as a TV)! The king bed was super comfy and the food was great. Service was exceptional and lived up the 5-star rating.

| Maid tried to get in room with privacy light on. Toothpick and other trash on floor. Concierge said that Jazz club was closed but it was really open when we went downstairs to check it out. Good thing we didn't trust her, it was a great show at Jazz at the Lincoln center!

| This is the ultimate NYC hotel. Start with the location at entrance to Central Park, the shops and restaurants of Time Warner/Columbus Circle complex and all above the largest Wholefoods emporium. This was my second visit. The entrance of this hotel was lined with the limos of visiting celebs, yet we were treated by staff as if we were among them. The deluxe room with view of Hudson, could not have been any more luxurious or beautiful with fireworks on the river each night. The concierge staff so gracious that you must allow them to book something for you just to experience them. Do a nice thing for yourself...see NYC as a guest at the Mandarin and you will be spoiled forever.

| I stayed here on my engagement weekend with my girlfriend and the hotel was wonderful. They were helpful in all my requests. The views are wonderful no matter where you go in the hotel. Truely the best hotel in NYC. Something I will remember for the rest of my life. Will return to Mandarin on my next trip to NYC.

| This was our first stay at a Mandarin Oriental and it was amazing! This was our engagement weekend and the hotel helped me coordinate several suprises to make the engagement special. The level of service was amazing, we could not believe how friendly, helpful & competent the entire staff was. When we travel in the future we will always stay with Mandarin Oriental as the destination allows. The concierge staff was especially wonderful.

| This hotel was magnificent. From the service to the decor, all was executed with perfection. We brought our Labrador dog with us and he was treated just like a special guest - not once were we told that an area was off limits to animals nor were we given second-class accommodation due to the presence of the dog. Although the hotel is pricey, I think it is worth it for a special occasion or a personal treat.
