    Features
What to expect: The lobby of this five-story hotel evokes the French Quarter of old, with its candle chandelier and sconces, ornately framed period portraits, and wood floors taken from a French church. Set between Royal and Bourbon Streets three blocks from Jackson Square, the hotel primarily attracts leisure travelers with its central location.

Amenity highlights: The hotel is home to two fine-dining restaurants: Louis XVI Restaurant, which serves classic French cuisine, and the Bar & Bistro at La Louisiane, which offers New Orleans-style fare with a Mediterranean influence. I recently stayed at the St. Louis for an overnight business trip on Aug 17-18 2006. The hotel is older and unfortunately I had to park my rental at a garage off site (which may be the case with all hotels, i'm not sure). But, for it being my first time in NOLA, the location of the hotel was great, half a block from Bourbon Street. I did get to go down and check out the sights and sounds of the famous street and although I didn't get trashed, it was comforting to know that my hotel was close by in case I over imbibed a few of the local libations. The hotel price was nice and the room was comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly and I would definitely recommend this place.

This was our first visit to New Orleans since Katrina, and we found that the French Quarter held up very well. The hotel is in a great location, on Bienville between Royal & Bourbon. It was an easy walk to all of our favorite places. The St. Louis is in great shape and the staff were all very friendly and helpful, though housekeeping is currently available only every 2nd day (as of July, 2006) due to having many displaced staff members. The rooms are nice and relatively spacious, and each of the hotel's 5 floors consists of rooms surrounding a beautiful rectangular courtyard below. Parking is also available at a slightly discounted rate in a garage 1 block over on Iberville. I highly recommend this hotel.

This was our first trip back to New Orleans after Katrina. The hotel was just lovely, very much like a small, European hotel. Not too fancy, but very comfortable and pleasant. Great location on the western side of the French quarter.

The St. Louis Hotel was in a fantastic location, I felt safe and secure. My room was clean and well cared for. However, the hall lights were almost all burned out which made for an interesting return to my room late at night. Additionally someone had ordered room service - the tray was in front of their door the day I arrived and was still there 2 days later when I left. The customer service was ok. I didn't feel like they were really there to do their job, more to collect a paycheck. If you can get past these few things, the St. Louis is a decent place to stay.

We got a room on the 2nd floor, facing the nice inner courtyard. The room was incredibly quiet, and spacious, though the bathroom fixtures and surfaces were a bit worn. Overall service was good. The restaurant was in really bad shape, with a flickering neon light. They also added a $2.50/day phone charge whether you used the phone or not. Overall good experience though.

Unkept to say the least. We spread towels on the bath room floor to keep from walking on it.
