| If your a fan of Playa del Carmen, Mexico, you probably love it because it combines the best of relaxation with plenty to see and do. I myself have been there many times and was happy to discover a fairly new hotel choice. The Mosquito Beach Hotel is located right in the heart of everything on the beach at Calle 8 North. It is just steps away from 5th Ave, the main drinking, dining and shopping district that runs the length of the town. This very quiet beachfront hotel was completely occupied but you would never know it. An eclectic mix of very modern architecture and furnishings combined with thatched roofs on some of the units proved to be the perfect intimate romatic space for my girlfriend and I. The island of Cozumel can be seen over the blue water on the horizon. There we dove "the wall" under some of the best conditions I have ever seen. Flat as a lake and 140+ feet of visibility! Absolutely breathtaking. Some day trips like that mixed in with days with nothing planned made for a truely fulfilling time away from the daily grind. I highly rate this hotel. Do not be fooled by the 2 star rating. This is only because the bar and restaurant at the hotel are not open quite yet. Drinks are still served on the beach and plenty of dining experiences can be discovered in the area. You and your significant other will definately not be disappointed with your say here. Enjoy...

| I loved this hotel. If you want to go to Mexico but don't want to stay at a giant hotel, or someplace with tropical print bedspreads, this place is a great alternative. My boyfriend and I stayed there just a couple of months after it opened and it was really beautiful and tasteful and the hotel staff was super-helpful. The only drawback I could think of is that there's no restaurant or bar yet, but they said it's coming soon. It was really quiet and romantic, and conveniently located as well.

| This hotel is a great value. When I travel, I don't spend much time in the room. The rooms are adequate. Clean, decent fridge, microwave, tiny TV. But the location is great. One of my travel books recommended this as a value and they were right. Just take a few steps and you are on the beach. Less than a block away is the main 'drag' for shopping and dining. The staff was very friendly and spoke English very well.

| Though the Albatros lacks many amenities, is rustic and a bit run down, it was a great choice for our first Playa trip. The location of the hotel can't be beat - your own beach and just a half block east of the middle of 5th Ave. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Thatched roof on the second floor rooms was romantic. Old bathrooms in need of more maintenance was my only complaint. Besides that this was an amazing place to stay for the money. Highly recommended.

| The girls that worked the front desk were more than helpful with any problems that came up. We brought coffee with us, but no coffeemakers were in the rooms. We had a TV but I heard other patrons complaining of not having one in their rooms. We had an excellent view of the beach. For the money I highly recommend staying, we will definitely return.

| you couldn't find a better location for this hotel it's on the best part of playa's beach. the way the hotel looks on the outside is great-bungalo style very exotic looking, but the bathroom was very dirty!!!the headboards of the beds were broken and the worst was no air condition for your money! if they fixed these things it could be a great hotel, but not until then.

| Air conditioning was a plus. Only needed after a real hot shower. My room had frig, microwave, and coffee maker but no coffee. Plan to bring coffee next time. Tip housekeeping daily rather than end of stay.
