Set into a seaside cliff just outside the pretty, stairstepped village of Oia, this small hotel consists of 17 villa-style units that were created from restored 300-year-old cave structures that once housed the homes, wineries, and stables of native Santorinians. The villas’ curved walls and domed ceilings echo the site’s ancient history, while air conditioning, premium bedding, and kitchenettes provide modern comforts and conveniences. Each villa includes a patio with a panoramic sea view. Together, the villas create an amphitheater-shaped landscape of softly shaped white walls and freeform patios that enclose a central stone terrace with an infinity pool overlooking the caldera. In keeping with the quiet ambience and unique design of Perivolas Villas, children under 16 are not allowed. Other amenities include a café, poolside bar, and library. Daily international newspapers and Internet access are available, and guests may book excursions with the hotel's tour desk.
