The Vagabond Lodge is run by a couple who really care about their guests' comfort and interests. The lodge is one of the most unique places we've stayed at. Difficult to compare with anywhere else I've been, but in the best possible way. We were rather spoilt as there were only 2 other people staying there and that was on the second night of our stay. We were staying there as part of a tour by hire car from Calgary to Vancouver, and although Golden may not be one of the most attractive towns, this was more than made up for by the friendliness and helpful nature of the inhabitants. If you like wildlife you'll like Kicking horse resort at the time of year we went (end of May) we saw black bears (on both evenings) Deer, Eagles and others.
