The resort has a great location close to the center of Ubud. Free shuttles are available to take guests to Ubud and some nearby sightseeing locations.... would suggest renting a motorbike for more flexibility and convenience. Great views of the green rice fields and valley, in the midst of nature... good shopping at the Ubud market, good and reasonably priced Spas nearby, etc. The Garden villa we stayed in was spacious and very comfortable, with an old-house feel and an outdoor bathtub... Given the surroundings, we had to be on the lookout for lizards which can get pretty big in this part of the world... Room and Walkway lighting could be improved, it gets quite dark in the late evenings... Fair amount of steps to be negotiated to move around the resort.... Suggest packing Insect repellant cream, light clothes, walking shoes, Motorbike licence... Staff was very helpful with directions, loaning umbrellas and sarongs for temples, arranging Motorbike rentals etc... They can custom-prepare food to meet dietary requirements (vegetarian etc)... Recommended for physically fit adults, on a Romantic getaway, or Trekking adventure, for good Spas in natural settings, or just looking for a quiet holiday.

Should be rated 6 star! Facilities are top class. World class security as you enter the resort which made us first time visitors to Bali feel very safe.So many restuarants and swimming areas to choose from. All 5 star. Food fabulous. Staff extremly friendly. Free shuttle bus into Kuta was extremly useful. We stayed in a Deluxe ocean view room which was well appointed and exceeded our expectations. If you are going to stay at this resort make sure you are not going to worry about the price you pay for food and beverages as they reflect the five star rating. If you are after absolute luxury away from the hustle and bussle of the main areas of Bali, this is the resort for you. We are a couple with no children and found it very easy to find areas specificly away from the "child friendly" areas. Ocean beach pool and Rock Bar are just two amazing such areas. This resort will not disappoint. If it does you must be very hard to please! Thanks Ayana for a wonderful stay we will return.

the Grand Mirage is a fairly typical resort hotel, and for those happy enough in one, it is great.There is a super pool, nice beach, watersports, all you can eat breakfasts, etc. there are few hawkers on the beach. Only down side is the lack of free wireless internet, which is rather primative for such a resort of this standard in Asia.

Kamandalu is located about five minute drive from Ubud centre, amongst exquisite rice fields. The resort is stunning, combining colonial elegance with Balinese style. We stayed in a villa which had it's own private garden and bale. The hotel provides a shuttle to the centre of town so being out of town wasn't really a problem. Staff were wonderful. Overall a great resort if you are looking for a peaceful break.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at Maya Ubud and enjoyed the resort's peaceful setting, beauty, pool overlooking the river gorge, excellent breakfast and great proximity to downtown. The spa is one of the best I have ever experienced, with a open villa overlooking the river so that you hear the sounds of the river while enjoying an amazing massage. I highly recommend the resort and hope that we can return sometime soon.

Kuta's probably more exciting (and noisier!) but it's really only a taxi trip away if you REALLY want the nightclub scene. Sanur is quieter, but still vibrant. Parigata Resort and Spa is one of three Parigata establishments in the area (just so you know which one I'm reviewing). It's an older style resort, mid-price range, with pool, small restaurant, bar lounge and shop. My room - on the ground floor opposite the pool - was an older one but I still had a huge comfy bed, fridge and large bathroom (shower over bath). There were tea and coffee making facilities (great when you feel you should boil drinking water). While the hotel says that the tap water is safe to drink, they also provided two free bottles of water for drinking or cleaning teeth. Breakfast was included in the price, and provided a reasonable range of food. Hope you like cornflakes though, because that was the only cereal on offer. Still, the chef would do eggs any way you liked and there was a generous range of accompaniments to suit either a Western or Asian palate. For other meals, prices are reasonable. Good points: Clean room & comfy bed, coffee & tea-making, great Sanur location, nice staff. Near to beach, Tamblingan shops, grocery store, restaurants, tour organisers and ATMs. Some things for improvement: Decor could do with an upgrade, toilet sometimes wouldn't stop flushing. Overall: Well located, good facilities. It's not the Hyatt, but a good, mid-priced hotel with most things you'd want.

The Alam Sari Keliki Resort and Spa is a small hotel about 15 minutes outside Ubud. This is a great hotel if you want a quiet, relaxing location. The hotel provides a free shuttle service into Ubud several times a day. The rooms were simple but comfortable and the breakfast was good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Most of them live in the local village. We enjoyed a guided walk into the village with one of them through the rice terraces. We didn't use the spa so can't comment.

Green Gardens Resort and Spa at South Kuta was the total relaxing experience only 15 rooms with 5 star service all round..... The resort is run like a family business, you know everyone working there and they are so so friendly helpful and always with a smile on their faces. We would like to thank Andy and his mum, his wonderful staff in the restaraunt. Made, Henry, Awan, Wiri, Ketut, Ari, and the trainees for all the enjoyable breakfasts starting the day with your smiles made our stay. The Spa ladies Putri, Alit, Eka and Oka your magic fingers with your massages and nail care is 5 star to say the least. And last but not least Jo our very polite young man that cleaned our room each day to perfection, his smile and efficiency is a complement to any resort Wonderful resort if your looking for that relaxing more private time away from the mainstream.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the hotel. We got our room at a last minute bargain price, so for what we paid we considered it good value. We stayed in unit 14 which had a magnificent panaramic view over the bay. The air conditioning in our room could have been alot better.Very comfortable bed. Food is definitely average, so dont expect to much there. We found the staff very friendly and accomodating. We saw monkeys , deer and wild pigs, which just wander through the resort. The water at the front of the resort is beautiful and clear, snorkeling at Menjangan island is very good, apart from alot of rubbish in the water. Massage was very nice.

I stayed here for 2 nights on my first visit to Bali. I'm hardly an expert, but this seems to be the exception to the community of upscale hotels in Sanur. Most of the other hotels nearby are very large western style resorts. This one is much smaller and cozier, which I like better. Excellent food cooked to order by the staff and a really nice outdoor eating area in the common space of the resort. The rooms are thatched roof bungalows with canopy beds. Mine had a private pool (only some of them do). My favorite part was the outdoor bathroom and shower (there is a high enclosing wall for privacy and thatched roof for rain protection). This hotel was a neat introduction to Bali. It's in a bit of an odd location, but an easy 10 minute walk gets to you to the main seashore in Sanur. They also offer tour services to other parts of the island, including hired cars for the day to take you wherever you want to go.

What a beautiful resort!!! We were so impressed by the payogan villas, including staff. They were so proud of their resort and rightly so. I think it has to be the best resort we have ever stayed at. Our photos of the room looked exactly the same as the brochures. Relaxing in our own private infinity pool overlooking the jungle valley is something I could definately get used to. Enjoying high tea every afternoon ( I have never been anywhere where they do that) was just one of the many little touches the payogan puts on just to add to your experience, the cross every t and dot every i, there is no better way to say it. If you want a relaxing, romantic holiday this is definately a place you need to check out.

Staff were friendly & very helpfull with whatever requests we had. Resort is lovely with pool, bars, lots of areas to just sit & chill. Lovely room with balcony, very clean. The only downfall is the pillows...very high & hard! Sore neck & little sleep after 2 days, so opted to use the little cushions off the couch. They really need a selection of pillows..softer ones! We had friends staying there too who also mentioned the hard pillows..If you can, bring your own. A little bit noisy some nights with people making noise in corridor outside room, but I'm a light sleeper & wake with any noise. Other than that, I would recommend this resort. Right on the beach with all water sports. Breakfast included was great, fantastic selection to choose. Lovely, helpfull staff, clean room with a decent bathroom, sometimes in Bali bathrooms are not the best, this was great. Comfy bed & balcony. Restaurants & cafes on site & good prices for meals etc. Not a lot of shopping locally but resort has drivers available at reasonable cost to take you anywhere. So getting out & about is no problem. Resort is surrounded by other good hotels & great to just stay & relax. Lots of families with children there & also couples. I've been to Bali 6 times & would recommed the Aston Beach Resort for anyone & would definitely stay here again...but will bring my own pillow next time! There are other Astons in other parts of Bali so be sure its the Aston Bali Beach Resort.

We stumbled across Suly Resort quite by accident, but are really glad we stayed. The hotel is a 5 minute drive out of town, which we preferred as Ubud centre is pretty noisy. The resort itself is a little dated, as its rather extravagent design hasnt been maintained through the years. However, the rooms were very clean, and the service was excellent. The newly opened organic restaurant that serves 3 meals a day is fantastic, amazing food and inexpensive. The resort is home to many underpriveleged 16-18 yr olds who get the opportunity to live-in, attend school, and also gain work-based training in hospitality to set them up for their future. We volunteered to teach an English class one morning which was great fun for us as much as the students. We also attended the free yoga class each morning with qualified instructors from round the world. The resort offers creative classes, such as cooking, painting and wood carving. there is also a health spa which we didnt have time to check out! In all, we really enjoyed our experience and would have loved to stay for another week or so to get more involved in the resort's activities, and to work our way through the menu!!

This is one of the best resorts I have stayed in. Even though the location is not in central or downtown Ubud, the service is impeccable and makes the 45 minute downtown worth it. The resort has daily yoga classes in a beautiful pavilion overlooking serene scenery, and daily guided walks through the neighborhood. I would recommend the Uma to anyone who wants a fabulous resort experience.

If one wants to choose the best place for a honeymoon or plan a once in a lifetime experience vacation in Bali, you would be very happy to have chosen to stay of Natura Resort in Ubud. This is my dream vacation. I chose wisely and Natura Resort is beyond my expectations. The staff are all friendly, welcoming, accommodating and would go out of your way to help any of your needs. The restaurant food is delicious and as good as any restaurant or better than in town. When I had a stomach problem from eating downtown Ubud, I stayed in my villa for one day. The concierge called to see how I was feeling when I called the restaurant for a special order of rice porridge and a slice of banana bread and fruit. The next day a fresh flower tropical arrangement was delivered by the resort. There are fresh pool of flowers displayed in the restaurant every morning. Glorious. They provide a shuttle to the downtown Ubud daily ,so convenient, and taxis are easily found if you stay later past 10 pm in the evening. The cost of a taxi is very reasonable and easily found. The hotel is secluded and peaceful. The resort also have areas in the resort for mediation and sitting and doing your morning yoga stretching. Very peaceful, tranquil and rejuvenating. You would not be disappointed. My villa was very clean and the canopy king size bed is draped and surrounded by cloths. I felt like a princess sleeping . Deluxe villa with a very large room/ marble bathtub and shower with picture windows perched above the gorge below. Trees trees trees, scenic, and relaxing, peaceful with sound of running stream. I went out daily to the attached deck where there is a table w/ chairs romantic or private meals or just reading during the day. I had a wonderful, healing massage at the resort. One walks down the stairs to the bottom and there is large open air hut. One can hear the stream of water , the smell of incense and oils greet you . The massage is excellent and the flowered hot bath rejuvenating and delightful. Great for a honeymoon couple or a healing rejuvenation experience. It is one of the best massages that I have ever had. There is a wonderful infinity swimming pool which was empty during most of my week stay. I went in December, off season, It did not rain 4 days of my stay and only in the early mornings. The showers were only for a few hours. Bring walking shoes and enjoy the warm weather. I found several organic restaurant restaurants and a wonderful live jazz club. I hope to return Natura Resort next year to visit this welcoming city of Ubud. One can spend a few days or several weeks there and feel right at home. Thank you to the staff of Natura Resort for making me my vacation so very special. Dont forge tot visit the Bird Park and go to the Balinese Dancing out of town near a school, and the Monkey Mask makers in Mas. For adventures, Elephant ride or zip ride through the forests. . A private tour driver for one day is very reasonable in Bali Only $45-55 US includes gas tour, their lunch. and tips which lasts for 5 to 6 hours. Shorter group tours are available for less. You can also schedule a cooking class thru the concierge and meet go to local farmer’s market and share enjoy a wonderful balinese meals. There are backroad tours for bicycle enthusiasts such as Bali Eco cycling. One can also contact local healer by contacting: Clear Cafe, Three Monkeys Cafe on Monkey Forest Road Ubud Live Jazz at the Jazz Cafe Bali ( dancing there too) Enjoy.

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel manager dropped us off at the town when no one was available. I had bought a wooden ststue eslwhere but he took the trouble to go out of his way to get it polished. The rooms were clean and always made up when we come back from our trips out. thebeautiful and scenic environment was relaxing. I would certainly stay at this hotel and recommend Bhanuswari resort and spa to friends. thanks to all the friendly and courteous staff!

I'm loathed to write what I really think in this review in case the hotel becomes so popular and I can't book next time I'm in Ubud. It is simply stunning - the villas, 29 of them (all with private pools and pagoda day beds) are totally gorgeous. We stayed in a Garden Pool Villa which had an amazing outdoor sunken bath surrounded by a fish pond, outdoor and indoor shower and a super comfortable bed. The hotel is about a 10 minute drive into the centre of Ubud and has a suttle bus that picks up and puts down guests hourly. We were in Ubud to do yoga at the Yoga Barn and it's a 5 minute drive away which was very convenient. The staff are warm and friendly. The resort manages to provide a high class facilities but is still in keeping with all things Bali. We loved it and will definitely be back.

Entry from the chaiotic street down the  driveway into resort is deceptive but once inside, a very tranquil, green  peaceful setting All rooms configured facing into the garden with large fragipani trees providing both privacy & beautiful fragrance. A pathway through gardens (& bonsai) to the two restaurants, pool & beach access.Deck chairs on beach, small gift shop, massage hut and tour booking office, as well as a couple of small gift & clothing stores.. Loved the authentic music at restaurant each morning.  Good selection at buffet breakfast. Friendly Staff would greet us and our toddler by name. Lovely deep large swimming pool with an adjoining shallow "wader" pool perfect for the toddler to walk around in with supervision.  Ground floor rooms open directly onto garden. (so easy access)  while we preferred our second story room (accessible by stairs) with it's own private balcony. rooms reasonably spacious with nice traditional balianese carved wood furniture, bathroom slightly dated ( sign of aging) but large & functional.  I loved the ornate split  door entry but my husband found it a (quaint) hassle. Reception staff helpful although a few requests (to ring a spa & make a booking misunderstood. Was actually better just to speak to these business's direct, in English. Located right next to the popular Jimbaran  seafood restaurants, fantastic value for fresh Seafood (although seating very basic,  plastic chairs &  tables on sand!) still, lovely  at night, & at daytime a few local sellers sell hats/sarongs/beads & trinkets very cheaply there too.  Fishing boats on the sand. The streets were  accessible for those wishing to explore with a mix of street shops & stalls.   We wanted to avoid the "glossy"" big chain name resorts (of Nusa dua) and the chaos of usual "Aussie" spots (like seminyak).  The resort had a good cross section of european and asiapac travelers & was relaxed but upmarket whilst maintaining some personal touch. Would definitely return

Was pleasantly surprised to see that the hotel room and grounds are exactly as depicted on Expedia. All of those views of the lush valley -- those are seen from pretty much every room. Went here on my honeymoon for 4 nights. Friendly reception desk. All rooms are standalone villas. Our room was in the 400 group - which means you walk up 52 stairs to get there (no elevator). Bellboys safely carried up our luggage. Room was clean except you are in the middle of a jungle-filled area which means a few ants. Nothing too bad. Mini-fridge was powerful. Bathroom is connected to outdoors - but was quite clean and the outdoor shower is totally private and a fun experience. Balcony was spacious and offered fantastic views. TV had only 4 English-speaking channels. Breakfast was adequate; there are limited villas so does not warrant the huge selection/quantity that you get at other resorts. Restaurant offers free Wi-Fi internet, from 11 AM - 11 PM. Didn't work one day, otherwise fine. Hotel is a non-walkable trek from central Ubud. Hotel offers 6 free shuttles per day into town; you can reserve a spot for both to and from Ubud; we never had any problem getting a spot, even when reserving 1 hr before. Nothing worth walking to in immediate vicinity. Go here for an exotic hotel experience. Won't come with all the bells and whistles, but it was fantastic for the second half of our honeymoon.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time at the Bali Khama Resort. This boutique resort was the perfect size for us as we weren't interested in experiencing a large all-inclusive resort. The staff were extremely kind, friendly and always happy to help! The spa was sensational! We treated ourselves almost everyday to a one-hour massage. It was lovely to experience extra pampering at the resort. We were more than happy to spend our days at the resort relaxing, whilst at night we would venture out to Seminyak or Jimbaran Bay for dinner. We stayed in a suite, which was really comfortable for a couple. I would recommend this resort to couples who are looking for a relaxed place to stay. A couple of things to note. There is a little noise pollution from the ocean during the day due to the watersports. We didn't find it annoying though. Also, it got quite windy at times and there's no protection between the ocean and the pool. I'm not sure if we were just unlucky or if it's always windy around that part of the island..?

The Haven was recommended to us and we would not hesitate to recommend others. All facilities exceeded expectations and while the only negative review I had read was about a lack of lounge beds, we never had any trouble - not that they are in abdundance but with two pools to choose from it was not difficult. And if you do miss out you can walk 10 mins to the beach club and use the lounges at Double Six beach. A clean and modern resort with friendliest staff, many of whom became our freinds during the stay with lots of hugs and well wishes on our departure. The Haven is exactly that - a 'haven' located in a bustling location but with a perfectly located bar you are far enough away from the street to watch it all from very comfy contemporary couches. The security guard even stops the traffic for you each time you leave the hotel and want to cross the road - what service ! We loved it so much we traded three nights in Ubud for another three at The Haven.

Perfect and amazing resort.

A perfect small resort a short car ride from Ubud. Great to be able to relax in such beautiful surroundings during the day and travel into Ubud for a meal at one of the great restaurants. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Villa was spacious and totally comfortable. Would recommend it unreservedly.

We arrived in bali at 1am local time and were greeted by two people out of the taxi. The place is fresh and new, fantastic pool and gym. Also our rooms were immaculate and maintained daily if not twice a day. Extremely satisfied with our stay at semara resort, especially with the service and cleanliness it seemed the most important thing, which was great. The only advice against the resort is the food and beverage prices. They are steep, if not the steepest we saw in the whole of bali. In comparison in aus its still cheap, but comparison to the rest of seminyak and surrounds it was rather harsh. We suggest not getting the included breakfast, not because its bad, only because you will find a way to feed yourselves 3 x over just for a short walk up the road. (quality food also). And i dont think you save any money by getting it up front anyway, so best is if you feel like breakfast there just add it to the account, if you feel more adventurous definately see what else is out there. Resort is fantastic and highly reccommend it. (just buy your food and drinks elsewhere)

A new & beautiful resort ! The room is spacious and very comfortable. However there is no safe in the room, it is unsafe to keep our money if we go diving. I think a kettle and tea/coffee facility should be provided.

We highly recommend the Puri Sunia Resort in Abangan next to Ubud. We stayed there for one week as a family of four (with two kids: 8 und 15 years old). The beautiful rooms, the swimming pool, the wonderful breakfast und and the very helpful, friendly staff made it a pleasure to stay there. The Morning Yoga sessions, the Rice Field Trekking, the handcraft hour, and High Tea are complementary. Wellness, e.g., massage at the Spa are worth the money.We enjoyed our stay at Puri Sunia very much. The Resort is about 10 minutes by car from Ubut and the free shuttle bus service made it easy to reach this spot. To be more independent you can rent a car or a motorcycle or a bycicle to make a tour of your own. The Resort also offers tours with a car and a driver to explore the temples etc. The Puri Sunia Resort is brand new, opend 4 months ago, and is designed in a Balinese style with natural materials in combination with western amenities like the showers and the bathtube. We and our kids would like to come again and stay at this peaceful Resort.
