I have visited this hotel for a few years now...earlier when it was the "FLAMINGO", the last few times it was really showing its age, ...but this last visit in NOV 2011, the resort has had a whole new facelift. The rooms, beds, decor , are now more fitting to the imposing exterior of the twin tower blocks. my room on the 14th floor was really luxurious, with a lovely view of the Colorado River flowing gently by. Everything waas excellent, better than before, and I now thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a place to stay with gambling downstairs , and excellent restaurants to suit all tastes and pockets.

Read reviews b/4 booking here & they were mostly satisfied, with the exception being the 'standard' or old rooms. With that in mind, we upgraded our room to the 'resort room' when booking. At check in I confirmed w/the desk that we were getting a resort room, but when we got to the room, it seemed anything but. The room was about as basic as it could be. While not dirty, it was certainly not worth an upgrade. The black painted dresser/TV stand was old and chipped w/an older TV in it, the carpet was worn and the overall room was rather plain. The only thing that was anything close to matching the online description of their 'resort room' was that they did have pillow-top mattresses on the beds. But that was it. No flat screen TV or other features were in the room. I have stayed at half-a-dozen other casino hotels in Laughlin, and this room was worse than a basic room at the least of the other hotel rooms we have stayed in, and we payed extra for a upgrade to it! Either we were not actually given a resort room(and not offered a corresponding rate adjustment), or the Tropicana doesn't understand the concept of truth in advertising. Now don't get me wrong about the cleanliness of the room. While it didn't at all seem like an upgraded room, it was not dirty. It was just a very plain, ordinary room. Until I hear that the Tropicana has actually upgraded ALL their rooms, and their room descriptions are accurate, I can not with good conscience recommend their rooms. This was our first, and most likely our last, stay at this property.

This was our first time to Laughlin. Most trips we encounter some problems, this trip everything went so smoothly. The first example of great customer service was the valet workers. I always feel like customer service is key in any business and the front desk staff was efficient and courteous. There were 4 people working the desk so our check in went smooth and took a few minutes. I always feel I need to check the beds for comfort and with the pillow top that was provided it was very comfortable. Another problem we've encountered at other hotels was the toilets always seemed to have a problem. These ones were great! The ventilation was great, no smell of smoke. I was disappointed that there wasn't a coffee machine in room, however the second day, housekeeping dropped one off. A pleasant surprise. Also, I am used to a full sized turbo hairdryer, and the wall models they provided had to suffice because I left my dryer at home. There were 4 meduim sized down pillows for a king bed, and I am used to having up to 8 on my king so I was glad I brought at least one from home. The Beach Cafe had a diner feel...good food, the staff was helpful and courteous. I especially enjoyed breakfast there. The buffet- the staff was pleasant and helpful. The pastas, and pizza didn't really have a taste. I couldn't really pinpoint was missing. The lasagna was tasty, Asian food was tasty as well. They offered prime rib and turkey almost everyday. I don't eat prime rib so I didn't taste that, the turkey was a little dry. The one thing that was memorable was the shrimp, whether it was the crispy style or the peel and eat...they were both great! The salad bar had most of the usual stuff. I enjoyed the different choices of fruit salads and desserts. The Ranch restaurant always had to have a reservation and usually didn't have room until after 8. Casino- had some of the machines that we were used to. We won and enjoyed that entertainment. Arcade-we also enjoyed this part of the resort...they had many fun games. We enjoyed ice cream at Baskin Robbins. I observed that it was a long walk from the North tower to the casino and restaurant areas. We stayed in the Central tower so we pretty much stayed in the middle of it all. As far as the surroundings...the outlet center was great to look around and shop at. The hotel is situated on a hillside, so we opted not to walk to the other casinos. It was easier to drive, however the parking is limited and we drove around and around to find parking spots. All in all it was a great experience and we will definitely visit soon.

The hotel is one of the newer resorts in Laughlin. It is a bit of a walk to any of the other resorts/casinos. The room i stayed in was good but for the exception of the TV. It did not work well and they only offered a few channels. They had on TNT, USA and FX channels in the casino but blocked them from the rooms. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but both of the times i have stayed at this hotel, they have put me at the very end of the hall. Like most resort casinos, it is a bit of a walk.
