This hotel / resort has a very reasonable price for those along the Cancun strip. It is not the most lavish luxurious resort, however it is VERY nicely decorated and low key. A lot of airline personel stay at this resort and if you go during the off season, there are not a lot of people here, which is nice if that would appease you. The outside area with pools and the beach are fantastic!!! Fun waves and relaxing environment. The resort staff is very friendly and most speak some English as well (I was so worried they would hate me :) but I tried a little Spanish with them and they seemed to enjoy that as well. Very friendly and kind staff. Bring extra cash to leave tips here and there.

Great value and great experieince! Somewhere that I would visit again. Overall the staff at the facility were wonderful. My only negative experieince was with front desk staff - a few of them were rude. Food, drinks and beach were a treat. No reason to leave the resort once you arrive. I highly recommend the property.

The resort & staff were very helpful & friendly. They spoke English pretty well & communication was good. There were times outside of the resort, which we didn't leave often, where I felt uncomfortable...I think more due to the recent activity & news alerts at home. If I was not aware of them I think I would have been a little more relaxed while out. For a good relaxing vacation this was perfect for my husband & myself. We run around all of the time at home & wanted down time. This is a beautiful location, a great beach, great volleyball, & good food. The shows were entertaining, the club too techno for us. A lot of the staff are good people who really go out of their way to service you, they work hard. We took a lot of $1's-impossible to find there & left a few dollars for them after main meals. I think it goes a long way.

My daughter and I spent last week at the Marriott Casa Magna. It was terrific!!! It was extremely clean and comfortable. The balcony was large with comfortable chairs, small table and chaise. The beds were comfortable and the linens soft. Wonderful service; wonderful staff. Chairs and umbrellas were plentiful at the beach and the pool. Staff was plentiful at the pool and beach. There is a lifeguard at the beach daily from 9 am to 5 pm. The water is rough in this part of hotel zone. Resort food is always expensive and this resort is no exception. However, I usually find resort food to be very good, so I don't mind the price if I choose to eat in a resort restaurant. In Cancun you can get much better food for a lot less money off of this resort. The beach restaurant had OK food. It was convenient. The Champions Sports Bar had the same menu as the beach restaurant and I ask for coffee the night my daughter and I decided to go in there for a late evening dessert and I swear, they served me instant coffee !!! I am a coffee addict so "instant" was obvious and not good. I read alot of good reviews on the Sashi Thai restaurant but I did not like it. The Pad Thai was horrible. It tasted like an over-microwaved noodle mess. It was not good Pad Thai. Mikado's was okay. My daughter said the Sushi rolls were good. We had the buffet breakfast one day and it was OK. I have had much better breakfast buffet's in other Marriott resorts. Great hotel, average food.

What a great resort. I selected this resort not for myself in my 50's, but for my 2 grandsons who will be 5 and accompanied by both daughters mid 30's and son-in-law. The highlight was the kids club(the reason I selected this resort) with the Pirate ship and waterslides. They couldn't get enough. They did some arts and crafts, movies, pajama parties and they loved the waterpark and didn't want to leave. The Japanese restaurant open for lunch only was awesome. The French restaurant for adults only was fantastic as well. The rest of the restaurants were very good but you need to remember if you like your meat cooked medium rare to ask for it rare. The grounds are so beautiful as is the beach. The rooms themselves are quite roomy and very nice. I had requested connecting rooms and they did honor our request which worked out very nicely. I also checked out the adult pool, hottubs and swimup bar which everyone seemed to be enjoying. I did speak personally to two gentlemen over the age of probably 60's raving about how much they enjoyed this resort. But do remember this is not a 5* resort, maybe close to a 4* and that is why sometimes you can pick this resort up at a great price which I did. But if you're looking for a 5* resort pay the extra 5* price so you won't be dissapointed. Can't wait to go back.

This resort is amazing. We had a suite with view of the ocean and pools. The room was spectacular. Upgraded, soothing colors, deck overlooking ocean/hotel grounds, sunk in tub, dark wood doors and closets. So luxurious! I could live in that room!! Dinner was fabulous! Can't remember which restaurant we ate at but it was delicious. The infinity pool was awesome as was the beach. At night we walked literally across the street to the mall, La Isla, and it was very nice. We were only at this resort one nite, so we didn't do much shopping at the mall as we had to be up at 4am for our flight, but next time we will spend more time there. The mall has upscale stores, very nice. The convenience of the location of the resort was wonderful. I appreciated the colors of the resort, staying true to Mexican heritage. Service was on point. I will definitely be back for longer than a night and will try to get that suite again. If you're thinking of visiting this place, stop thinking and just GO!! If you find it at all disappointing, you must have standards that no one can satisfy. Happy Travels :)

We had a long week and were exhausted following our wedding, we couldnt wait to unwind and enjoy Cancun. We had heard that Coral Beach was a premier resort but we were floored and extremely pleased the minute we entered their doors. From the gentlemen that took our luggage, to the concierge, manager, bell hop, maid and beach crew...by far the BEST service we've experienced at any hotel and resort. The resort was spectacular, extremely clean and far more than we had expected. The entire staff was friendly at all times and made us feel like family. They all remembered our names during our stay and were at our disposable for anything we needed help with. The pool area is amazing and the staff there was also attentive and friendly at all times. The breakfast buffet is excellent. If you're looking for a place to treat you like royalty, Coral Beach is the place. They are second to none in service, food selection, ammenities, and accomodations. We can't wait to return to this resort.

my boyfriend and i went to cancun for our first time recently for my birthday for a week, found what seemed to be this amazing resort for a very good price on here, when we got to the resort almost no one spoke an ounce of english or even tried, the minture we walked in the door a employee pulled us aside and tried to sell and push us into every marketing ploy known to man, mind you it was 7:00pm, been on a plane all day, all we wanted was our room, that seemed to be a huge chore considering we had a extremely pushy woman in our faces. 2ndly, the bed was like sleeping on plywood. VERY VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. cleanliness was a plus, the toilet didnt really flush, and the water temp. was uncomtrollable. the other employees were very nice, the building/rooms were all very old and outdated, ALL the restraunts were buffet style and you only get to choose from 2 different kinds a night and one is very formal which we werent informed so we ate at buffets the whole time which is fine but it would've been nice to know, also, i wouldnt consider this to be a night life resort, all the music gets shut down at 9-10pm, i wouldnt go with very many expectations. also any shopping or restraunts on the strip are very far away considering Solaris is one of the 1st resorts on the hotel zone next time i would pick a resort further down the strip. we had a great time because we were in cancun, not the royal solaris.

The resort is rather close to the airport, so it basically took 30 minutes to arrive with the Best Day hotel shuttle prearranged. We arrived at the resort about 90 minutes before the check in time. The room was not ready, but the staff took our luggage, and we were invited to start eating and drinking. The resort is a bit older then some of the new hotels, however everything is very well kept. A few minor issues were resolved almost immediately-certainly in a reasonable amount of time. Breakfast is very good with almost anything you could imagine or desire. Lunch had many options and was very good as well. Dinner- the buffet option was just "ok" however my wife and I are not buffet eaters. There are a few other sit down/order restaurants which have many options. Seafood is very good, sushi is not bad-nothing super, and there are not a lot of beef/chicken dinner options at the sit restaurants. The seafood makes up for it though. The resort is not big on desserts, so don't expect a huge display of desserts. There is plenty of fruit available at each meal. The only downside to the resort is there is little entertainment at the resort-especially in the evening hours. Expect to have to leave the resort if you want evening entertainment-but everything is close. Water is very nice, staff is excellent, and the drinks are not watered down. Would stay there again without a doubt

Enjoyed recent stay at Cancun Caribe Park royal Grand. The Good: Front desk staff and all workers were extremely pleasant and helpful. Hotel kept very clean. The Bali Beds at the quiet pool were an adder but must get one by 7 A.M. Breakfast buffet and specialty restaurants were good depending on selection. Stick to the pastas dishes in the Italian restaurant; the veal dishes were disappointing; didn’t taste anything like restaurants at home. We enjoyed the Asian restaurant. The beach was beautiful and water very warm. The bad: The lunch and dinner buffets were not as good as we expected or experienced at other all inclusive resorts. The bath room needs to be updated. Water would occasionally stop in the shower. I got sick for two days at the resort; spent much of it in the bathroom. I can’t attribute it to anything specific. I only ate at the resort and drank purified water so not sure how it happened. My wife was fine. Be aware that this is a vacation club resort and after check in you will be approached by a representative that may mislead you into thinking that they are part of your check in process and will show you the resort facilities and give you a discount package. They are trying to sell you a vacation club package and may take up hours of your time. We knew this in advance and declined to meet with them even though they put notes under our room door and called our room.

The hotel looks like a big prison with balconies to me. Other party members thought it looked fine. The large interior and rotunda is very impressive and remniscent of a cenote, if you know what that is. We used the double your money feature and were very satisfied with it. The Grill restaurant is good enough for meals when you'd rather not go out. The room was a nice size and was in generally good repair. Like most hotels I stay in, there was room for improvement on aged hardware and with wear and tear, but the price is right. The only bad view rooms I would guess are the lowest levels. We were on the 5th floor, non-ocean front and we had views of the ocean and the pool. The beach and pool are very nice and fitting of a resort hotel. The staff was very professional, attentive and friendly. Overall, we were very satisfied with the hotel and Cancun, our first time there.

The Hotel is truly a gem among the commercial hotel zone. Where do I start? Service. It was Outstanding. From the moment you enter the property you are treated like Royalty. The Ladies and Gentlemen of the Ritz know hospitality and grace. Though out the resort it's immaculate and truly beautiful. I highly recommend you stay on the Club Level, the service and food is phenomenal. With 5 food presentation through out the day there really is no reason to leave the property. We rented a Casita on the beach for the day and that was Awesome. Chef Rory does an amazing job with the food. He gives cooking classes and does a Chef's table a few times a week. I highly recommend that as well. I have stayed at the Ritz Carlton Cancun quite a few times and all I can say is " they just keep on getting better and better. And I don't know how they can possibly top themselves after this past trip. I already am making plans to stay there again ASAP. Once again, The Club level is a fantastic experience and the staff there are out of this world. I promise, you'll feel like family by the end of your stay. And trust me, you won't want your stay to come to an end.

The Gran Caribe Real was one of the nicest all inclusive-resorts that I have been to. Clean is an understatement. They constantly cleaned everything and everywhere. The pool was delightful, because unlike other resorts that I have been to, it was heated. The buffets were just okay but the pool-side lunch restaurant was delightful. It featured a delicious club sandwich and sushi that was excellent. However, there is not enough seating so you need to get a seat early. Sunsets Restaurant was by far the best, if you wanted a steak dinner this was the place to go. Why go down-town and pay for an expensive steak dinner when this place was included, definitely for the steak lover. The bars at the resort were great with speedy service, especially the beach bar. The resort featured live music every night at the lobby bar which was really good. The room was clean and nice but if you don't pay for the upgrade, which they try to get you for at check-in, you don't get that ever desirable ocean-view, instead you get a view of the lagoon. The only thing that these all inclusive-places need to do is give you a brief tour when you arrive to let you get a feel of the place. Instead of walk around for two days figuring it out on your own wondering about things. Overall, my stay at the Gran Caribe Real was excellent. I walked north and south on the beach to get a feel for the other resorts and I felt as if it was one of the nicest on the strip. I definitely would recommend it to others.

Ive been to many all inclusive resorts, this resort is just average. The selection of restaurants and food is minimal in comparrison. The location and the beach are stunning, as well as the pools. We upgraded to the gold premium and despite the upgrade and the website description, the only difference was you were eligable to drink in the lounge with the premiuim alcohol. Their was constant confusion amoungst the front staff as far as in room charges.Wewere first told the mini bar was included then we were informed it wasnt. It wasnt until after I went to the front desk and explained according to our package it was, they were agreeable.I didnt like the fact you had to use your passport every time you exchanged money at the front desk, what a hassle! Despite it all it was a great trip,I would not return to this resort considering that they are many other resorts with better resorts in the surrounding area.

I purchased the trip to the Barcelo Costa Cancun as a birthday gift for my mother, she a simple person who's never really been anywhere so this resort was fine for her. It's a smaller resort so I didn't have to worry about her getting lost , there's only one pool and it needs some work some of the tiles were falling off, and the grout around the tiles was a big mess but I don't think my mother even noticed. We ate the buffet every night which was average. And had a few drinks by the pool that were very good, the drink staff around the pool was excellent. The beach was terrible I read several reviews that said it was small but I had no idea. Not to mention all the seaweed . The water wasn't pretty blue it was a terrible yucky green. Not to mention the ugly pirate ships that are parked there all the time. Our first room was nice but half way into our trip we noticed a very strong sewage odor in the room, and was moved across the resort where the room wasn't nearly as nice . The 24 hour snack bar is a big joke unless you like very dry pizza and fly infested cold-cuts. The customer service staff in the lobby was very nice and very helpful. All in All this resort was ok for my mother who has never been anywhere, but for me who is an avid traveler it was kind of a disappointment . But I knew before we got there it wasn't the best, so it was just ok.

The service at the resort was exceptional. Staff try their best to accommodate your needs. The food was well prepared and I thoroughly enjoyed. The beach near this resort has eroded and it covered with grass and weeds. An unpleasant odor omits from the beach water and I would notrecommend swimming in it. The resort was not filled to capacity due to the economic recession. The staff tried their best to entertain guest with activities. I most certainly did not enjoy them but I applaud the effort. As with any all inclusive resort, drinks are watered down and I would recommend tipping a little extra to get a stronger drink. Take the bus everywhere, because it is cheaper. This resort is not far off from the clubs, but not within walking distance. My last bit of advice is for singles. This may not be the place for you. A vast majority of guest at this resort were mid age couples. Unless this is spring break, young single people please stir clear of this resort.

My wife and I along with our three teenage daughters had a wonderful time at this resort. The service was excellent and the staff were extremely nice and eager to please. The staff was especially nice and willing to serve our teenagers, which is a very nice thing to have. We have been to other resorts and the treatment of the children was not up to par. Our rooms were cleaned every day and the air conditioning was outstanding. The evening turn down service was nice since they also picked up any dirty towels that we may have used since our room was cleaned. The Wet and Wild waterpark is an added bonus, since it also allows you to eat and drink free on the grounds. I would definitely go back again and would recommend this resort to anyone.

This was my first time in Cancun for a 4 night trip with my girlfriend. We read many internet reviews of area resorts before deciding on the Riu Caribe. This resort is not in the heart of the hotel zone which means it isn't as near the shops, restaurants, night clubs, etc as other resorts. However, that makes for a quieter, less crowded beach experience from what we saw. In the time we we there the resort had a good mix of people staying there. Not too many kids, not too many older people, and not too many college age kids there for the party. The pool was exceptionally clean at all times which was impressive beacause it is a big pool. Service at all restaurants and bars were good. I had read reviews about weak drinks but had more strong ones than weak ones and I am a pretty good drinker. The only bad experience was we left the room for 30 minutes to go try to get a dinner reservation and have a drink and someone got into our room and stole our phones and cash in my girlfriend's purse. They recommend using the in room safe at all times, which we did except this time, and I see why. Hotel security seemed concerned but the resort office staff did not seem to miss a beat. Make sure you keep all valuables locked away while in Mexico.

I just returned from a stay at Park Royal with my 2 daughters (ages 18 & 19), and I can't say enough about the incredible staff at the resort. From the maids to the waiters (especially at the buffet) to the staff in the pool area to the lifeguards, they really went out of their way to make us feel special. What we loved: *Small resort compared to others, so the staff recognized us and gave us personalized service (special fruit smoothies and a fresh plate of bacon in the morning, a nice cocktail with our lunch, etc). There's no way you'd get that attention at a huge resort. *Daily activities / entertainment. Again because the resort is smaller, these activities were more fun because we'd recognize the other participants from the pool or dinner or beach, etc. *The beach is beautiful! The surf is a little rough, but the lifeguards keep a very careful eye on everyone and make sure you stay safe. Nice big sandy beach with plenty of lounge chairs. *The buffet. Lots of fresh fruit and salads. And the waiters could not be more attentive! *The Italian restaurant. Make reservations and order the beef tenderloin. There's a dress code, so bring some nice clothes. It's worth getting cleaned up for! *Nice big clean rooms. *No time-share goons. *Cool Mayan ruins on the property. Go see it at night...very cool! What we didn’t love: * The floors in the rooms and the hallways are polished marble … which looks nice, but is very noisy. Voices, doors, and footsteps in the hallway echo and amplify. If the folks upstairs wear shoes in their rooms, you’ll hear it. Bring earplugs. * The pools are small in comparison to the huge resorts. If you’re a pool-person, you won’t like Park Royal. We go to Cancun to sit on the beach, so this didn’t bother us. * You can’t bring resort food up to your room. You can buy snacks at the little store and bring that to your room. I don’t think they want you to bring drinks up either, but they didn’t say anything or try to stop us from doing so. ** By far, the “Positives†outweigh the “Negativesâ€! Notes: * You don’t need any Pesos. Bring plenty of $1’s (US) for tipping. Tips are included in the all-inclusive rate, but I always left a $2 tip for the buffet, maids, bellboys, and transportation and I left $5 tip at the Italian restaurant. It didn’t add up to a lot for us, but it makes a big difference to them. * Get down to Puerto Morelos to snorkel. We used Cancun Mermaid. It was amazing! * Use Best Day for transportation to/from the airport. It cost $51 total for 3 of us for ROUND-TRIP shuttle service. They’re on time, the vans are clean and cool, good drivers, and not time-share goons. They can’t be beat!

When we arrived at the hotel after 13 hours of travelling we were immediately accosted by a "concierge" before we were allowed to have our room key. She said she wanted to explain the amenities but what she was really doing was booking a reservation for a time share presentation. We agreed just so we could get our key but told them we were not interested when they called the next day. Other than that, the hotel was good. The room was clean with a nice view, the staff is super-friendly and helpful and kept our linens and fridge well-stocked.The only complaints about the room are that it smelled musty and the bed was really hard. The hotel had awesome evening entertainment which we looked forward to. It was hard to find out what to do during the day because if you wanted to book a tour, they wanted to sell you a time share first, so we stayed at the resort. That was also true of the lobster dinner, spa credit and ground transportation that was advertised. We did not get any of these because we did not take the tour they were offering. All in all the hotel was very nice, but you don't get everything that is advertised. If you can deal with the sales pitch it's well worth the money for the all-inclusive benefits.

I had heard mixed reviews of this hotel and I can tell you that I had a really great stay. It was the perfcect mix of convenience, location, and atmosphere and for a great price. It has a much more relaxed low key vibe than those monstrous pricey resorts. I didnt do the meal plan, and was out and about most of the time, but really enjoyed the safe clean place to come back to, with a great balcony to the ocean.

My spouse and our two kids enjoyed our stay at the hotel and resort. The staff were friendly and helpful although there seemed to be a disconnect as we received different information about the resort from different hotel staff. The food ranged from good to excellent. We ended up going to the buffets more than the restaurants due to the larger selection for the children. The interior hotel 'garden' resembled a moon-scape with dead-looking leafless trees situated in gravel. I would suggest booking in the Grand Oasis next door which had a beautiful hanging garden but shared the resort area with this hotel. The hotel guests were well behaved with only a few loud arguments happening at 5:00 am. Try not to get a room near the entrance to the lobby as sound travels in this hotel. A good selection of guests were here from around the world. The beach area was well maintained with lifeguards actively engaged. There were convenience stores within a five minute walk of the hotel. The ATMs did not work in the hotel or adjacent Grand Oasis hotel on the morning of our checkout so I had to walk to a bank five minutes away. I definitely will go back to Cancun but if we went all inclusive I would upgrade to the Grand Oasis.

Great adults-only resort with a wide variery of ages, singles, couples, groups. Smaller, but more personal...amazingly friendly staff and very helpful. Food is tasty and a large. variety from which to choose. Water is SAFE to drink...great purification system! A pleasant surprise. Room service 24/7...breakfast, lunch, dinner, midnight snack! Be sure to check the activities board in the main lobby for events and which restaurants are open. There is a free schuttle that leaves every hour to the Great Parnassus, where you can also dine as part of the all-inclusive. Rooms: -ocean-view is awesome...but watch out for Rm 218...massive coconut tree in front of balcony blocks the view of the ocean...changed to 4th floor room...Thanks, Yessica! -comfy bed and pillows -cool air-conditioned room -shower, NO baths, unless in Club Rooms on 6th floor -LED lights directly above sink in bathroom have a very narrow focus, so a shadow is cast if you are trying to shave or put in contacts close up -nice balcony with two chairs -safe with key -closet to hang clothes -two drawers for clothes under TV console, but difficult to open Overall, this resort is awesome and we would definitely return!! Thanks for a great time, Yamel, and the great dining staff of Rafael with Edith (aka Sabrocita), Oscar; the food preparers: Arturo, Pedro, Manuel, Rocio, and Reuel! You are the reason this resort is a success!

Not the place to stay if you want anything to do, the cabs flat out rob you. We were told 120 pesos to the airport and we were charged double. We have stayed at this hotel for comfort and the spa and for some unknown reason and spa resort closes the spa at 7pm? To me that is way too early for a place that is advertised as a spa. Would not stay again and definitely would not recommend it.

We had a great time at the Hotetur. Yes....it is a smaller resort and older but it was well worth the money we paid and more. The view was amazing. Pool area is smaller than most of the larger resorts but big enough for the amount of people staying at the resort. Activities do go on around the pool, we only did the bingo and it was fun. Went to a few of the night shows....the gambling night was the best, had a blast and nice way to meet different people....the show that a mexican group comes in and performs was good....karoake is just people staying at the resort trying to sing, ok. Food was good to great, buffet had enough.....outdoor food was typical poolside food, good.....Italian restaurant was great (ate there 3 times) always try the nightly special is was wonderful and my daughter enjoyed the Bolongase.....the fancy restaurant was really good (oceanviews) but can only eat there once. (weird) I had requested an oceanfront room (paid for standard) and it was amazing, furnishings nothing fancy but fine. Pillow seem very lumpy but ended up being very nice to sleep on especially knowing they wash and change the pillows daily. Bus stop right outside the resort to the left and drop off right across the street...perfect. Staff very helpful, even squeezed us in on our last night to eat at the fancy restaurant. I got up every morning put towels on loungers on the beach (brought 2 from home) and a guy will put up an umbrella for you. We had a wonderful time and plan to go back!!

Riu Cancun was INCREDIBLE! We absolutely loved every aspect of this trip. The resort was AMAZING! The grounds were beautifully landscaped, the hotel staff was helpful in every way. Our room was wonderful and huge! Very clean, bed a little hard but some like that. We had a junior suite with a huge balcony overlooking the ocean that was so peaceful and relaxing. The food was above average and wonderful! We ate the buffet for breakfast and lunch everyday. There was SO much to choose from and I don't think I tasted anything I didn't like. It was all delicious. We booked the Brazilian restaurant one evening and the steak restaurant one evening but never got to try the Japanese restaurant. The pools were wonderful and so many to choose from. The Spa was so great. I had a Swedish massage that was to die for! The beach was super, super clean. Very white sand, no trash, no rocks, it was just beautiful with turquois water surrounding the entire place! The location of the hotel was wonderful. Within walking distance to Senor Frogs, Carlos n Charlie's, mall across the street was nice but pricey. Loved the Forum mall. Flea market was great and also very close. We actually only left the resort for about 5 hours on one day and stayed at the resort the entire rest of our 4 night trip, that's how much we loved this resort! I've never come home so relaxed from a vacation in my life!! I can't say enough GREAT things about our trip. We WILL be back to visit this resort!

Over the last ten years we have traveled to Mexico an average of 2 times per year. We always stay at all inclusive resorts. Having stayed at a wide range of resorts, we have a lot of comparisons for this resort. Positivives: *Service - The wait staff is the most attentive and friendly of any resort we have stayed at *Food Choice - We ate in all but one of the restaurants. The variety of food was the best of any resort and it was not difficult to make a reservation *Public Spaces - The public staces are oppulent and really give you a feeling of luxury Positive/Negative - Location If you are looking for a resort this is not for you. This is a hotel in the middle of a lot more hotels Negatives: *Rooms - We had two suites. The reviews I read about the odors are accurate. Having stayed at many tropical resorts, I have experienced some mildly musty smells which usually clear up when you run the air conditioning. This hotel has an "Amonia" smell in the must which I did not get used to. I found it prevelent in the hallways on all of the guest floors. * Rooms were also very warm and the air conditioning did not do a proper job.

Being able to visit all of the other Oasis resorts was awesome. You can have something new to do everyday. This was our first time at this resort but our 7th time in Cancun in 14 months. We love it. We're staying here again in April. The Beach was calm but real shallow. There's nothing for kids at this resort which was ok for us because there weren't many around. It's very clean and modern and compact so you can't get lost like some of the larger resorts. Not many food choices compared with other resorts. All in all its a great deal for the price. The pools are awesome and there were plenty of chairs to use.

This was a nice resort but we are use to a 5 star resort in the same area. There is a definite difference in the level of service outside the hotel. We are use to having a waiter for food and drink all day long and at this resort you need to get up and go get your own food and drink. We ate and drank a lot less than usual due to this inconvenience. The lobby bar was huge and very nice compared to our usual resort. We were mildly disappointed with the small fitness center and the feeling of being disconnected from the ocean by the huge sea wall. We are use to a bar and restaurant on the beach. The food here was good and we enjoyed the 24 hour access to the deli and room service, which is not available at our other resort. There were more kids/families here than we are use to but still enough adult fun and people our age to enjoy and kids were not a disruption for us more than once. Staff was friendly and made the stay enjoyable. We enjoyed having access to our preferred rum at this resort, compared to our usual hotel, but they would run out of it daily. I think it was nice resort with good food and good service for the money.

A girlfriend and I decided to go on a trip together celebrating a 40 year friendship. At first we had decided to go to the Bahamas, but our hotel had sustained damage due to hurricane Irene, so we choose Cancun and expedia gave us an unbelievable price on this trip. First of all this is an all-inclusive resort that is beyond beautiful. It is located on the beach and is also surrounded by 8 infinity pools with the largest one that looks as if it runs right into the beautiful blue/green ocean. When you are greeted at check-in, you are treated to a hand massage and you are then told where your room is located by a friendly staff. The resort is amazing as well as our room. It has marbel foooring throughout the resort with a huge tub in your room as well as a huge glass shower. The maid gives you blocks of gourmet soaps everyday as well as comfortable beds with turndown service every night. The food was amazing!! You can have seafood on the beach as well as nachos and anything you want to drink and they will bring it poolside or you can go into many of the restaurants they have, not to mention the 24 hour room service that they have. Right across the street is a wonderful mall to shop plus an airconditioned one 2 blocks down from the resort. Also, when you enter the resort it has the most amazing smell and calming music with pools of water inside the resort. We took advantage of the spa and that was great! We also swam with the dolphins across the street located at the aquarium.

This was our 6th time to Cancun, the 2nd time that we choose to visit this resort. This was the 2nd week that we were here during "hurricane" season - I would estimate the resort was 25% occupied - It was as if it was our own place! Unfortunately, we did have 3 rainy days - If you are considering going during hurricane season, a rainy day or two is probable - I estimate out of our 40 days of vacation during hurricane season, we have had no more than 6 total rain days. The strengths of the resort would be the family "orientation." We have 8 & 9 1/2 year old boys and they loved the waterslide, the entertainment staff, the beach, pools and the karokie bar. Of the 5 resorts we have been to, this is by far the best family resort. Downsides..the resort is showing a little wear & tear. The adult only restaurant is much nicer than the others which poses a challenge if you have your children, regardless, the other restaurants are very good! If you are on a higher level, the elevators could be a pain in the rear. Expedia has this resort listed at 3 1/2 stars and there are nicer places that you could go to and more $$ that you can spend on your vacation, but we have found the Great Parnassus to be a great combination of quality & value and we look forward to returning next year!

The Royal is the most amazing and breathtaking resort we have ever been to. It's true paradise. The food in the restaurants was absolutely delicious! We never wanted to leave the resort... we just sat in the pool, overlooking the turquiose Carribean Sea! Best vacation by a mile!! ** Quick suggestion.... Do NOT stay in rooms 420 or 421. They are the only rooms in the resort with an obstructed view. Every other room in the resort has an amazing view! **Do not let them take you on the "tour of the resort". They are trying to sell you a timeshare. It will waste 2 hours of your precious time in paradise! **Our opinion is that you don't need to upgrade. All of the rooms are amazing inside and share beautiful views. Not sure if it's worth the money to upgrade. **Make sure to eat at Asiano's in the resort. Ask to sit at the tables where they cook the food in front of you. It's an amazing show!

We had a wonderful experience at this resort. We didn't realize it but had gotten the black bracelet upgrade when we booked. We were treated really well, the room looked just like the picture on the website, and we had access to everything on the resort including the VIP Lounge which had all top shelf liquor. The resort is small but that was good for us. We were there for 4 days and didn't leave the resort except for 1 afternoon shopping at the mall within walking distance. The evening entertainment was lacking but wasn't our priority. Overall, this was a WONDERFUL first trip to Cancun. We would definitely recommend this resort to anyone! Probably should do the black bracelet though...talked to someone who didn't have it and did not share the same experience that we did.

Went with Kids(age 10 and 5) last week of April 2011. Hotel is OK, but it is not a 4 star for sure, it must be 2 or 2.5 max. Rooms were comfortable, but had some wierd smell sometimes and when complained, they would come and clean/spray to hide the smell.... disappointing. Having said that, the staff at bar and restaurants are really good, if I have to go back to that resort - it would be purely for service you get and nothing else. Food was great!! because you get to use the restaurants from the next resorts also. There is not much for Kids in the resort, had to go out of resort to entertain kids. And my suggestion is not to fall for the deals for attending timeshare meeting, it is just a waste of time. And you wont get any substantial deal if you are not buying their timeshare anyway. This was my first visit to Cancun, so no complaints - but I would not go back to the resort again as there are a lot of other/better/bigger resorts for almost the same price.
