My wife and I stayed at the Carefree resort and Villas from 9/15-9/22. The resort itself is north of Scottsdale, and a fair bit of a drive from Phoenix. Not too much trouble, though, and very easy to get to. We checked in fairly early, no hassle, and were asked whether we wanted a pool view or a mountain view. We figured the mountain view might be nice. It was a good choice. The resort looked absolutely fantastic. Tons of Cactus and desert flora everywhere. We didn't get near enough time during the week to tour the grounds, although if we went back there we would (it's a 54 acre property). We stayed in the main building, which had close parking, a gift shop, an internet lounge, a bar, a pool, and a restaurant. Pretty much all you need. Being that the resort is north of Phoenix, it makes for a good jumping off point for trips to Sedona and the Grand Canyon, as well as back into Phoenix. The staff there were helpful, towels were supplied plentifully at the pool, there were about 6 umbrellas by the pool to protect from the sun. Cleaning staff were quick, and we always had new towels. Free Wireless internet throughout the resort was a nice touch. Only negative was the all the resort rooms were 2 queens instead of 1 king. The resort was quite quiet at this time of year. We were not charged the resort fee (don't know if it was included in the expedia package). We would definitely return.
