Although we were on the "quiet floor" (4th floor), the noise was frustrating-(The noise of the elevator, conversations from the ground level, and loud late night noise from an outdoor party tent on the opposite side of the resort). It was not conducive to an early night or sleeping in. The bathroom had only has one sink, and the closet door would not stay on the track. Their was an unexpected additional resort fee to cover in-room coffee and bottled water. The surrounding shops were quaint, but don't walk to far from hotel-the atmosphere quickly changes. This was not what I expected from a resort hotel.

This resort was absolutely gorgeous with stellar facilities. The location is outside of Phoenix, on a secluded site nestled among the mountains. The building was aesthetically beautiful, with a grand staircase in the lobby leading to four outside pools and several hot tubs. The outdoor furniture is very comfortable and posh, with ample lounge chairs and umbrellas. There are several restaurants from which to choose. I ate at two, both were delicious. The poolside fire pit is a nice touch. I spent a day in the spa, and those amenities were just as grand. (Caveat to following comments- the spa staff was excellent, and I had one of the best messages of my life). Unfortunately the quality of the staff was the antithesis of that of the physical resort. When I called, prior to arriving, to inquire about a taxi or shuttle, and the resort's proximity to Phoenix attractions, I was told to "Google it". Honestly! When I told her that this response shocked me, she replied that "we are actually not allowed to give out that information". When I asked to speak with the manger, my line became disconnected. When I called back and asked to speak to the manager, she indicated that there was no such policy about limiting that information, and was more helpful. So I was blatantly lied to... My room was not ready when I arrived, and I was told they would call me when it became ready, and my suitcase would be delivered. Four hours later, I checked back in to find that the room "Of course is ready". When I got to the room- guess what- no suitcase. The night before my departure I called the front desk to request email of my receipt for a speedy departure the next morning (I gave my credit card check in at arrival). The $5 a day rebate (green initiative for declining cleaning & linen/towel service) was not applied to my bill and the staff member did know how to apply it, or in her words "did not think that was possible". When I asked to speak to her manager, she said there was none, that there was absolutely no one else on duty but her. Funny thing, when I immediately called back (after being on hold for several minutes) another, more capable staff answered my call. Second bold-face lie. Wow!
