My wife and I just returned from the Divi Carina resort. Had a top-floor room in the newest section which was very nice and well-kept. The mini-fridge and sink area were really a nice compliment to the room and were put to good use for afternoon "Starters" and evening after-dinner drinks! We will definitely return to this resort if we get back to St. Croix anytime soon. Agree with the other reviewers who state that a rental car is needed. We enjoy seeing the islands, not just hanging around the Hotel / resort, and greatly enjoyed Point Udall (the Eastern-most spot in the U.S.), Christiansted and the Rain Forest on the western side of the island. The facilities at the Divi were very good, not world-class, but very clean and comfortable with good service. The Casino was enjoyable, especially with the great entertainment (Motown group just back from Las Vegas). Best of all was the resort location, beachfront with great snorkeling just 1/4 mile West of the Divi and no crowds or high-rises in sight.

Stayed for a week in early April with my wife and two daughters, 11 and 14. We always had things to do at the resort or on the island. You could tell this was a family-run resort that took pride in operating a resort based on a 17th century sugar plantation. We took the intro scuba lessons in the pool and then went in the ocean later in the afternoon--everything was smoothly arranged by the helpful concierges. Our room at the main building was large, clean and airy with a wonderful ocean view. The main restaurant had fancier and pricier food than we usually eat but the kids practiced their dinner manners. They would finish and go up to the room for an hour of Nickleodeon while my wife and I sipped coffee and cordials in the open-air restaurant overlooking the ocean. The same restaurant offered a free, well-stocked buffet breakfast in the morning. The resort has 3 beaches including a rocky, romantic one with pounding surf on the other side of the golf course-we played there for two hours and never saw another guest. We found 2 beautiful conch shells. 2 warnings: The resort is on the east, more arid end of the island. While there is plenty of foliage and flowers it is not lush. On the other hand, rain showers never lasted more than 30 min. Also, it is a big resort on a big hill--going back and forth from the beach to the rooms and restaurant is a bit of a work-out. Might be too much for some older or medically-ill people. The resort does have a shuttle service.

Stayed Nov 26-Dec 10. and loved every minute of it. This is the 4th resort on St Croix we've stayed at and liked it the best. What makes it special is the staff-simply the friendliest and nicest group we've ever encountered from Jerry and Mimi at the beach, Beth and Brandy at the restaurant, the gilrls in the office, and the houskeeping girl who wished us a safe trip back. 1. Food is great and reasonably priced. You can even get breakfast at 7:00 AM. 2. Beach is super for snorkeling, kayaking, and well maintained 3. 5 minute drive into Christiansted. 4. Room was 30 feet from the ocean with a beautiful view of Green Cay and Buck Island. 5. Grounds and room were kept immaculate 6. Ice machine Website photos don't do it justice. The only bad thing was leaving. We'll be back for sure.
