Having read other reviews of the Lodge, we were not sure what to expect. Many American reviewers seemed to think the hotel was overpriced and the staff amateurish. Foreign visitors on the whole thought the hotel was superb. The foreign visitors were correct (perhaps many of our fellow American Yosemite-bound visitors weren't expecting a Resort hotel at the park). The rooms were clean, comfortable and well appointed. The restaurants, pools, common areas and concierge-related activities (we trail-biked to a nearby waterfall) were certainly to the standards we'd expect of any comparable resort hotel. The staff was friendly, helpful and professional. The food varied and well prepared. We'd certainly recommend Tenaya Lodge for anyone looking for a 4 or 5 star resort getaway. (However, if someone is ONLY looking for it as a staging area for a visit to the park without using the hotel facilities, they will find it more than their needs.)
