We stayed here from 10 - 21st October 2011 . Following a 45 minute drive from RSW Airport we arived at reception at around 9pm and we were met by Ibrahim who was very welcoming. He made sure we knew all we needed to and checked us in promptly. We were allocated a room on the 6th floor which was a one bedroom suite. The suite was huge with lots of drawer and hanging space and the facilities were excellent and would suit anyone who wanted to feel at home away from home! All mod cons were provided with the only exception being a kettle but that wasn't a big issue. The location right on the beach was ideal as was the pool area. There was plenty of on-site parking. As there were just the 2 of us we did our own daily clean up although we could have paid extra for that service. The resort provided a free weekly refresh service where towels, etc were replaced and the room tidied. We were given on request a wi-fi router which was simple to set up and free to use. The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful throughout and Ibrahim excelled with his advice on local restaurants and discounts available. The resort is within an easy 10 minute walk to restaurants shops and pharmacy. We would have no hesitation recommending this resort and location.

The Pink Shell is a wonderful resort! Anything I asked for was supplied happily. The only things I would like to see improved would be to open the bar Sanibel side of the resort. Nothing was available to us (pool towels, bar, restaurant) unless we walked to the other end of the resort. I don't know if this was because the resort was not full, but if you are going to house people on that end, they should have the same conveniences as others. The free spa ammenities were fabulous and the free breakfast buffet each day was unexpected and truely appreciated!

This hotel is a hidden treasure - especially if you have small children. You are right on the beach (no roads to cross), the pool is warm and well-kept, the efficiency rooms offer all that you need to prepare easy meals (no need to worry about finding child-friendly restaurants or eating out every night with exhausted children.) We were very impressed by how kid-friendly in a low-key way this resort is - even down to the fact that in the room we had, the furniture too was kid-friendly, no sharp corners. Someone put a lot of thought into this resort. There's an outdoor tiki bar and live evening entertainment that winds up at 9pm - again, perfect for young families. We definitely recommend this resort to anyone looking for a good value resort and will definitely return!

I booked this hotel knowing it was a fun place to be. We are in our 50's, there were a lot of younger people staying here which was fine by us. As soon as you arrive , you hear the music on the beach , see the boats in the water and lots of people in a good frame of mind having fun ! I believe there were 3 bars , each with entertainment, fun games on the beach etc . We ate at the restaurant upstairs which I may add was unexpectedly outstanding and reasonable . Although the resort is old and in desperate need of UPDATING , our waterside room was clean and oversized , however the glass sliding door was at times very hard to open because it is so OLD. Lastly beware of the lounge chair/umbrella situation which no one told us about. The lounge chairs & umbrellas are enticingly placed on the beach , once you are all settled and comfortable a person comes over and tells you they are not part of the hotel , it is independently run and there is a charge per chair and for the use of the umbrella ... well worth it but we were taken by surprise . This place is hopping till 2 am , depending where you room is located you may hear the nonstop music & partying. If you are looking for a quiet reserved place , this is not for you. Next time I think we would stay up the road a piece in a NEWER place , take the trolly for .50 to this resort ,hang there reap all their benefits and take the trolly back to tranquility : )))

This was our first time staying at the Gullwing resort. Originally we were going to stay at a Hotel in Sanibel island but was turned off by reviews. It was then that I read the reviews for the Gullwing resort. The reviews are true. It is clean, the staff is wonderful and go out of their way to help you. My wife and I originally rented a 1 bedroom condo but decided to upgrade to a 3 bedroom condo even though it was just the two of us. It seems the 3 bedrooms are on a higher floor which we prefer. We stayed on the 9th floor on the nort side of the building and had both a view of the Gulf of Mexico and the bay to the east. You have all the beach to yourself and there are plenty of good restaurants if you read reviews. We did not pick one single bad restaurant and ate all over the place from fish to steaks to Italian. Overall , I highly recommend the Gullwing resort and would definetely stay here again !
